The guy left with his feet and lead with his elbow into another players head. Are you serious? Not even a debate
- Cptmjl

The video clearly shows his elbow is tucked in... It was a bad hit, but don't add in poop that didnt happen. He left his feet, awful, awful play, but don't make stuff up to make yourself sound better.

You caught me. That was my aim. If it was an awful, awful play then what's your point? You want to debate schematics?

Leading with the elbow makes it seem like he was purposely trying to injure the guy. He made a stupid mistake, not tried to kill someone.

Let's not kid ourselves, Rinaldo hits to hurt. Maybe not to intentionally injure a player. But he tried to hit him through next week.

He could probably start by not doing things like this.

Yeah that's not good. Good thing he missed with the first.

You have any gifs of Emory fighting that goalie?

Oh I see. He didn't mean it then? Come on. If that was Giroux on the wrong end of that elbow you wouldn't be saying there wasn't any intent to injure. You'd be calling for someone's head and rightfully so. Rinaldo is a dirty player. He's noticeably dirty every single game I've watched him play in. That hit was dirty. He elbowed a player in the head. He clearly meant to do it. It was no accident.

You really think he saw a random kid on the blue line and was thinking "I'm going to check this kid in the head right when he bends over to shoot the puck in a weird position. Let me make sure I give everything I got to his head to make sure he has a concussion".

Good for him. What about Savard and every other player he took out for a season or for good along the way to his angel wings?
- Cptmjl

I don't know what you're getting at with this, Cooke made an almost impossible change in his game for the better. Thanks in large part to the Penguin organization.

Whatever happened to 'Stache, the one that kept talking crap to Tangradi after sucker punching him. Is he still in the Isles organization?

SO when he left his skates he was just practing a new event at teh next winter games the Ice long jump?

If you think that he had any other intent but to injury going from a stopped position on a faceoff skate several strides to the blueline launch into the air then Id love to see what you think a player who does that is thinking.

No I don't. Now you're over doing it. I'm saying it wasn't some quick play that was moving fast. He left his feet with his elbow going directly into a players head. That's not an accident. Anyone who says that was due to the speed of the game or some other lame excuse has never laced up a pair of skates. A player is not leaving the ice with his skates leading with his elbow into someone's head without an intent to cause bodily harm. You're 100% fooling yourself if you think otherwise. That was a conscious decision with all of the time in the world. The puck passed the guy for facks sake wasn't even in the play at that point.

Really? No, he's not. They got rid of him for that very reason. They didn't feel the need to "rehabilitate" him at the expense of another players career.

nope he was just bracing for impact when Chad put his head in the way. Chad just kinda snuck up on him.

Have to hand it to him at least this time he didnt have to go around the net before lunging into the air to hit a guy whos not even looking at him.

So instead of explaining yourself you drop down a laughing face. Kind of leads back to what I said a bit ago.

No idea if you've ever played before, my entire point for "playing devils advocate" is the speed of the game, and the shooter dropping down. Most times when a hit is thrown the intent is determined a second beforehand. I do not think the intent was a headshot, I think he was trying to finish his check and got the head.

I'm glad the organization got rid of him. Its up there with the Brashear high stick in my book.

how fast was he going (or the play as a whole) while the puck was being dropped on a face off?

IF this play wasnt off a face off and soemthing more like Stevens V Kariya I could see your point here however you dont hold water

Rinaldo took four strides before the hit, that's just about full speed for most.

And was stretched out with his stick to try to deflect a shot then threw himself up to hit a defenseless player after the shot was released

I agree. The Flyers want him to play hard, but not get suspended. No team (or fan) want him if he was a non-checking 4th liner. This year, Rinaldo has thrown 230 checks, which is huge for his limited ice time. All of which were done without getting suspended. 231 was not his lucky number.

If this is really true he should be suspended again for more games, he isn't even accepting it's his fault, he's blaming it on Ruhwedl! he launched himself at his head, how much more obvious can it be the guy is scum!!

Per garth-- Rinaldo told CSN Philly's Tim Panaccio:

"It's just unfortunate it has to be the remainder of the regular season," Rinaldo said. "I was in a good groove, I was feeling good playing. It's just unfortunate it's for the remainder of the regular season and I can't be playing the rest of the season.

"It's just one of those hits that kind of slipped away from me. Some bad timing and little vulnerability on his side of the puck, too, so my bad and his bad at the same time."

And I am surprised Rosewood wasn't suspended for using his elbow to knock out the goalie, even nif he was pushed in to him it was an obvious attempt to injure.

He is an agatator, and a hard hitter. He walks the line, but most of the time it's a clean hit. When you play the type of game he plays, sometime your going to cross that line. We should all understand that lines get crossed, and people get suspended... I think it has happened to a lot of people... Even Refs.

And he rightfully got suspended for it. But Rinaldo is hardly the posterboy for what is wrong in this league and discipline issues. Guys like Kaleta, Neal, and Ovechkin are.

His play last night is deserving of criticism. His lambasting he is getting for his "reputation" is mis-placed.
