The video clearly shows his elbow is tucked in... It was a bad hit, but don't add in poop that didnt happen. He left his feet, awful, awful play, but don't make stuff up to make yourself sound better. - FlyersSteve118

Just compare the pads of yore (top) and those of today (bottom) and it is no surprise that there are so many concussions and other injuries caused to other players by today's "protective" equipment. They are more akin to 17th century suits of armor than anything else.

Leading with the elbow makes it seem like he was purposely trying to injure the guy. He made a stupid mistake, not tried to kill someone. - FlyersSteve118
He hit as hard as he could, while leaving his feet, and aiming his body so that he only came in contact with one of if not the most fragile part of the body.
Yes, he was intentionally trying to knock Rhuwedel out of the game. Believe whatever it is you want, but he should have gotten 7+ games for that. |

Scoop, yes it does, it makes you feel like 'superman' that you can't get hurt when htting someone, even with improper technique. You don't show a picture of it, but the worst part though are the hard plastic elbow pads which are really used as weapons! |

He could probably start by not doing things like this.

I bet I could find more GIFs of James Neal making dirt-bag plays then you could of Rinaldo. |

Nobody is going to argue the fact that James Neal plays like a scum bag. Most Penguins fans will admit it, myself included. This is not about James Neal and the cheap crap he has done over the course of his career. This is about Rinaldo and the path he is headed down. You keep throwing out the straw man argument that he has only been suspended twice in his NHL career, while trying to ignore the other suspensions during his days in the AHL/ OHL. An argument could be made that he has earned his reputation based on ALL of his supensions. It was a dirty hit and was handled accordingly. Just like James Neal, Rinaldo no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt. By all means though, continue to try and shift the focus to James Neal and off of Rinaldo. |

You've got a pretty harsh review of a guy that hadn't been suspended in over 18 months. And while the play was horrible in its timing and poorly executed in its delivery, the shooting player changed positioning while Ronaldo was already committed to the hit, almost like the boarding calls when the offensive player turns his back at the last half-second. - Topshelf Mountain
Then Why did Rinaldo leave his feet and extend an elbow? |

Will finding gifs of Neal somehow disprove my point that Rinaldo creates his own bad reputation with plays like that one?
