He gets paid more than Sidney Crosby. Enough said. - Grinder47
Not really... Old CBA versus new CBA. Over the first 8 years of their deals, Crosby makes more, but he has the benefit of a few cheap years at the end. |

well i know the stillers always play better as the underdog so hopefully everything being pessimistic about the pens lights a fire under their arse...
as far as trading malkin I brought that up a few weeks ago and everyone wanted to kill me for even suggesting such a thing...
I like DB for the record - JLT168
Trade Malkin! DIE!
I'm kidding. I also see the value in trading him. In too many games to mention, if the first ten minutes don't go his way the rest of the night is filled with frustration and penalties. It bleeds through the rest of the team at that point. |

I'm just trying to figure this out from everybody in here.
The Penguins have over 400 man games lost, which is highest in the NHL, but managed to walk into a Metro division title, and everybody is already firing the head coach and trading Malkin?? I understand the low expectations going into the playoffs, but personally, i like the way Fleury has played recently, plus the fact that players are getting some rest and getting healthy before the playoffs start have to be encouraging. I will gladly call for change if the Pens get bounced in the first round, but lets get there first before we start talking about it. - cap1681
yea its just something to talk about I would like to think most people arent already throwing in the hat( hahahha I guess I meant towel?) and wanting to fire DB and trade malkin
to clear the air, the return for malkin would have to be great in order to stomach getting rid of him, I am not saying we should trade him for nothing, only if its right...and even then im not sure I would pull the trigger |

The only way i could see him being traded is if the Pens got at least a top 6 C, a top tier W prospect, a top 4 D, plus a 1st. That would be the starting price. |

I'm only saying if the Pens crash and burn trading Malkin would have to be considered. Now if he comes back and goes on a terror in the playoffs obviously not. Based on his regular season I'm not expecting it though. |

yeah, but 2 factors. 1, that is a lot for a team to give up for 1 player, and 2, Malkin would have to waive his NMC to go. |

Right now today, considering Malkin is hurt, absolutely. But Malkin has won an Art Ross, a Hart, and a Conn Smythe. At his best, he is a top 3 player in the NHL. Wouldn't trade that for just one player. |

agreed, but maybe we throw in a prospect or D man to make it work, as far as geno waiving his NTC he probably would only go back to russia...maybe hed stay here but I doubt it...so to that point trading him may be moot if hes not willing to be traded, does his NTC have a list of teams he would go or is just like a straight up NTC?
I for one would prefer and love to see malkin dominate the playoffs and stick around being a team player and contributor the rest of his career here |

Am I the only one who thinks DB deserves another year of having a healthy team regardless of their playoff finish?
I dont like how he plays vets over younger players or that he almost flat out refuses to line match, but that doesnt mean the grass is greener. Look at Vancouver. I dont think this team would benefit in any way from having a coach come in and try to impose a more defensive minded system. And I dont think that he has lost the team in any way. If anything, I think the players needs to take a little more personal responsibility for some of the lack of effort.
I think we have the right team looking ahead to next year. If we can be healthy and not tired from the Olympics like this year, I dont see why we cant win the Metro again (although you never know). My only question mark has been in goal. And in that situation, its MAF's time to show he's got the goods. If he sucks it up again, you cant really blame that on HCDB. |

People might think you are a fool to suggest this, but I don't. Not saying to trade him, but should possibly consider it. We need more balance. We need more parts. I would gladly give St. Louis our roster for theirs. They don't have a Crosby or a Malkin, but they have a better lineup top to bottom. I don't know who would give up the motherload of returns for Malkin, but I see some candidates. No, not Calgary either for a bunch of prospects and Monahan. |

I wouldnt do it for backes straight up, now backes and shattenkirk for malkin and a prospect or draft pick id consider...
the only single player I think anyone would ever consider would have to be stammer, and we know stevey Y is holding on to him tight...

I can't see him doing that. He seems to like being in the shadow of Crosby, as Sid takes all the media pressure away from him. He would be a rock-star in Russia, with microphones in his face every time he leaves the ice. |

agreed on all fronts, and hopefully, the way fleury has played this season will be a true indication of things to come for him in the playoffs, bc I for one think hes been lights out the majority of the time |
