And not one other GM knew about that... And if the Col GM was so smart he wouldn't of matched.

Even B Daly had to look it up.

Thanks though.

His body of work, all-inclusive, in my opinion is better than Gillis's.
- LeftCoaster

I've seen his moves all summed up before and outside of getting lucky with some lottery picks after some horrible seasons he's been no better than Gillis. Grass is always greener mentality IMO. Many Caps fans have wanted him gone for years now.

the real winner here is MG's health. Guy had some seriously high blood pressure and big ass eye bags. Seemed to get worse by the year.

Offer sheets rarely work so it would have to be a trade. Would be nice to see a GM be able to execute a hockey trade that might actually help us.
- AlexF

I was thinking trade, but I do hope the offer sheet Shenn and drive up the price . A little payback for Clarke and Kesler.

Should have used past tense.

I'm a fellow TB fan though so it's all good.

You know what would suck?

If the ownership caved in to the fan pressure and made personnel decisions based upon the chants of the crowd. Seems weak.

(apologies if this wasn't you that said that )

Any thoughts on how Julien Brisebois has done and what his influence has been at TB?
- AlexF

He's done some great work managing the AHL affiliates. Reaching back-to-back Calder Cup finals wasn't an accident. He's been quite active with signings at the minor league level, and a lot of them have paid off. He was THN's Top Hockey Executive Under 40 a couple seasons ago. I like him. He was a favorite for the Montreal job a couple years ago.

Thanks for the info. Seems like he could be a possibility who would be open to a promotion to GM.

You don't want to be a TB fan anymore. Bishop was just injured, and it looked really bad....

If the Aquilini's really wanna hit a homerun with this hire they should be interviewing all of these guys who haven't got a shot yet as head managers and hire the most impressive interviewee. McNab, Hextall, Fenton, Will, Briesbois, etc.

They already tried the retread coach. So please don't hire a Feaster/McPhee/Dudley now.

Disagree, I'm not gonna sit here and blow sunshine up his ass but he spent five years as an Assistant GM with the Canucks from 92 to 97, which Gillis didn't do. In the early 2000's he took a veteran laden lineup in Washington (like we currently have) and turned it around within five years through drafting and trading.

They won the Presidents trophy and had some very good years since, no they haven't won there but neither have we. He's got almost 20 years of NHL executive experience. He also had a Cup finals just like Gillis.

My honest feeling is that if Aquilini has committed to Tortorella, you'll see Feaster get the job. If Aquilini is open to the idea of removing Tortorella, maybe you see the organization go elsewhere. Hiring Feaster likely saves Aquilini from having to fire/buy out Tortorella for at least another year. And there won't be a bidding war for Jay's services either.

I don't think Jay is necessarily the right choice for Vancouver, but you could certainly do a hell of a lot worse. He takes a lot of flak, but he's got some pretty good qualities and some winning experience. He's likable too. There are better options out there, but I firmly believe that Jay is an upgrade on Gillis.

I think Aquillini is making financial decisions and not Hockey decisions. Unless he is going to gut this team and build it over again from MGMT to roster, he is making decisions that sell and appease the fans.

Meh, I'm biased because I've seen Jay win. But that's sort of the point.

Gillis was 60 minutes from the same Cup, not a lot separates the two IMO.
