Nobody I hope - I like it the way it is - LeftCoaster
“Dave Nonis isn’t going anywhere. I extended his contract, he’s is my guy. I like working with him. I think we see the world the same way and I know that he has the best interest of this organization in his heart and I think he’s made good moves.” Leiweke said on FAN 590’s Tim and Sid show in mid-January. “If you look at the players that we have today, there is no question that we all think that we should be in a better position then we’re in today.”
“I think he(Nonis) spoke very loud and clear this weekend, the issue is not the coach. The issue is our players need to understand, October wasn’t a fluke.” Leiweke said. “We gotta get back to playing the way were then.”

AV had a lot of success. I didn't not like his coaching stye much the same as I don't like Torts style too defensive and boring. While I respect both and there accomplishments I still don't like their style. If they were to win us a cup I still wouldn't like the type of hockey but I would love the cup win.
I thought Gillis should have fired AV that was his first mistake in my book. - thundachunk
I appreciate your stance (I too wasn't the biggest fan of AV, but that was more so with respect to the post-season - primarily due to his steadfast/stubborn style and seemingly status-quo strategies instead of being aggressive/pro-active in responding to various situations that arouse during the post-season). My main point was, though, that there was a lot of great/exciting and up tempo hockey played by the Canucks over the years, despite/in-spite of AV, and even though we didn't win the cup, it was very enjoyable hockey to watch. God forbid we embrace any sort of 1990's New Jersey defensive scheme/system. |

AV was a very good regular season coach for a while ,his problem was the playoffs. He was not good at adjusting on the fly, he needed time to plan his strategy. |

Out clause - LeftCoaster
"And there is a good chance John Tortorella may not survive the purge as well. The word is that Linden will have a clean slate when he comes in, with the power to hire his own GM — Brendan Shanahan and Boston assistant Jim Benning the leading candidates. And the appointed GM will be free to hire his own coach, and it’s not likely to be the guy in place according to sources that indicated Tortorella has a clause in his contract whereby he can be dismissed for a payout considerably less than what is on the contract’s face value if the team is not satisfied with his services."
All of this is making me excited. |

Dreger with his poop eating grin talking about Gillis getting fired - wonder if he'll still have it when Nonis gets canned and he loses his only job leverage? |

If their idea of holding people accountable for their actions is giving people extensions for signing Clarkson to that ridiculous deal or standing proudly by while re-signing Phaneuf to that new contract then I'd say odds are good Nonis sticks around for a while. |
