The firing of Mike Gillis will automatically ramp up some of that talk about Jay Feaster to Vancouver

Oh dear god

I could see Bob Nicholson getting a solid look. He was great for Hockey Canada and he has great relationships with a lot of GM's in the league.

Reading between the lines of all the rumours flying out there; I wouldn't be surprised to see Bob Nicholson be announced as President on Wednesday at the FA press conference with the new GM TBA.

I know blaming the coach in Vancouver is popular instead of the players.

But AV is a damn good coach and the Rangers will prove that this year in the playoffs.

They'll be in the conference finals.

I truly hope that's the case

I think it would give the team a lot of credibility.

Being a front office guy for Team Canada(a hockey powerhouse) doesn't impress me much. I'd take him as president since he has a good rep and likely good connections with many GM's, coaches, scouts, etc. But not as GM.

McNab or Hextall.

- Nucker101

Or maybe even Gilman!

Both Naslund and Nicholson have recently stepped down... I hope this isn't what's to come.

AV had some stacked teams here, look at the numbers those teams put up. The core is older now, look at AV's last season here so IMO AV was a good regular season coach, but bad in the playoffs. Torts' system just isn't good for puck possession and quality scoring chances. AV gets out-coached over a 7 game playoff series, he plays the numbers but doesn't make adjustments.

Rangers could make the ECF because the East sucks after Boston/Pit. Rangers would get bounced in the first round in the west.

Anyone room on TB's bandwagon once FA hires Naslund or Linden or Feaster?

Indeed, plus with Nicholson's hockey Canada connections, Corrado's chances of making the 2018 team are looking good

Careful what you wish for. I had a feeling this sh!t would happen now. There's a decent chance it's gonna be a "yes man" for FA or someone who isn't suited for the job.
- Nucker101

You don't know that, you're already thinking the worst, it could be a great situation like Nicholson as President, Ron Hextal as GM and Linden as a hockey operations guy. Oh, and a new coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teams that win cups have a core of Canadian players. AV didn't.

When the chips are down, Canadian players want it more. Call me Don Cherry all you want but the stats don't lie.

Towes, Carter, Richards, Doughty, Keith, Seabrook, Crosby.

Their leadership usually comes from Canadians.

Naslund - GM

Maybe because there simply are more Canadian hockey players in general? As far as core players.....LA had Kopitar, Quick, Brown. CHI had Hossa and Kane. Detroit was basically all Euro. Pitt has Malkin. NJ went to the SCF with Elias, Parise, etc. Canucks went to the SCF with the Sedins, and Kesler.

A guy like Toews is a damn good player, but then you have good old hard working Canadians that go all out like Dany Heatley, Dustin Penner, etc....right?
