tht was like 10+ years ago, detroit doesnt draft as well as everyone believes - Jurco_28
howard and kronvall were very good too. Nyquist was what a 5th rounder?
i'm not going to debate it with a wings fan, you obviously know better than I about the wings, but point is you have to draft the right players to develop. |

Detroit pretty much have 10 years worth of their 1st round picks on their roster.
They have the patience to develop their own. - Tumbleweed

you but Bozak and bergeron in the same sentence - senstroll
i've always said bozak is a piss poor bergeron. They play similar but bergeron is way better.
piss poor being the key
and bozak is much much closer to bergeron than kadri is to yzerman. |

the key is keeping your players and taking the patience to develop them properly.
which is a combo of keeping them in the AHL for long enough, having a good system/coach to teach them things. having players on the farm and on the big club to help groom them.
and first and foremost, not trading away your players because you feel you need to improve your 'd'.

They drafted Andreas Anthinasiou. Their introduction to brown superstars in the NHL. Kid had a dirty between the leg goal the other day. |

“I think he (Nonis) spoke very loud and clear this weekend, the issue is not the coach. The issue is our players need to understand, October wasn’t a fluke.” Leiweke said.
Yes it was.
Leiweke's comment is proof-positive that this organization is totally messed up from top to bottom. We were getting outshot and outplayed in October, and only won because of goalscoring and goaltending. The Leafs' fundamentals have NEVER been there all year.
Looking forward to another year of ineptitude |
