trade 23 yr old kadri for 26 year old kadri. Let someone else develop KAdri into something better.... we're fine with trading young talent for older more expensive talent who is better now , but may not be better 1-2 yrs from now.

Is Lee Stempniak available? Worked so well last time we traded for him. Traded some bum named steem? Can't remember his name. |

You wouldn't keep him as a backup for say... 2.5? - markmark
He's only making a 1.8 now.... can't see him getting more than that.
Also they can qualify him to keep his rights and trade him during the summer.
Letting RFA's walk is ridiculous. |

The team isn't bad enough to get that #1 pick... they're a fringe playoff team that with the right additions could be a notch below Boston or Pitt
Reimer is an RFA... just let him walk, don't offer him a contract. He's done nothing for this team except become a distraction (by way of his agent) and poop the bed umpteen times. - Mr_Smokey
with a few moves like trading Lupul, Franson etc.. we are stuck with clarkson so play him more...
believe me the leafs were were much closer to buffalo than boston this season..
you think Bernier puts up another .925 season?
all his is if Carlyle stays of course.
oh and why let an asset walk for free when you can get something for him? |

Way too much for Reimer and way too much for Reimer as a backup... Besides that role belongs to a vet with past experience.. Having Reimer this year was fine Bernier wasn't proven and they wanted them to push each other. Bernier when healthy played well, he is a bright spot. Reimer simply cannot handle pressure. |

Lets be honest here folks , there is more going on that just the players they put in place
its more than just the coaching or the system they are playing.
The dressing room is divided and I have heard rumblings why
there has also been some rumblings of a few players getting a little carried away partying.
The media in Toronto is hilarious , they sit there and say hmmm I wonder what is going wrong with the team , but to a man I would suggest more than half of them know the true story and fail to report it. I can understand why , because they would be basically cutting their own throats for bringing that to light in the city that they cover.
I do think some changes are needed , we are stuck with Dion , I get that but I think the C should be stripped of him this summer and given to another player an actual leader. As a captain how can he hold players accountable for their mistakes if he isn't being held accountable for his ? I like Dion I do but and I have defended him all year but this needs to happen.
Also I would move Franson out , as well as Kadri , I don't want to move Kadri but he is one of the most valuable trading chips we have.
Package him with Reimer and a draft pick and get some defensive help.
Leave Rielly and Gardiner alone and allow them to mature.
also keep the d-men we have in the minors , a couple of them could be a solid 3rd or 4th D man in a few years.
Lastly Caryle has to go , the team has tuned him out and refuses to play his systems. ( I still don't think he has a defensive system there is no way)
As for his replacement ? I have no idea , maybe Trotz from the preds if he gets canned |

Sounds like an awesome plan. |

You'd rather get a 6th round draft pick (is that really an asset) over sending an important message? I send the message.
Bernier is capable and Please... the Leafs are not closer to Buffalo than Boston... I know we're all angry but Buffalo is atrocious. The bones of this team are good... build around those bones. |

Awesome asset management. Makes tons of sense to let assets walk out the door for nothing when you don't have to. - burn
exactly.
generally broad acknowledgement that the team won't commit to playing or can't play the system...
so we'll blame the guy who was made the back-up half way through the year - perfectly sensible.

I'd say replace Kulemin with him but who's going to make up for Kule's 6 goals per year........ pretty big hole to fill. |

So drop an asset for nothing, bring in a "vet" who probably has sub .900 numbers, sign him to 1-2mil to bring intangibles. Got it.

What happened to Fabian Brunstrom? I recall a bunch of Leaf fans praising Burkie for getting him saying he'd turn it around and be a legit top6 guy? - Iggysbff
Wtf are you talking about? We got Brunnstrom the same way the sabres got Omark, he had already bombed. Don't make poop up. |
