What like bashing Dion? - honesthockey
I point out his mistakes and give exact examples from the games, I also have been critical of many other players, such as Kessel, Gardiner, Franson, Clarkson, Raymond etc.. I don't care about your hate for Gardiner, it is such stuff as below.

The fact they lost these players doesn't explain why they are 2-10-0 in their last 12 games. WITH those players in the lineup. - Pecafan Fan
WITH?
Oh come on man....Bolland still hurt...Bernier out..how is that WITH? and we sucked.

Rookie Morgan Rielly drew universal praise for his burgeoning offensive talents while fellow youngster Jake Gardiner is seen as having a limited up-side as an offence-only type. “I see some of the things - honesthockey[Rielly] does instinctively and say he’s going to be really good down the road,” one scout said.
Real hockey people see through Jake Gardiner. I'll post the other that says Gardiner skates pretty but skates into no where from another GM. It's only in here he has value.

If I put my UG hat on......and totally implausible it will happen.....
keep kessel, jvr, rielly, bernier, Clarkson, Gleason to help us reach the cap floor
Trade Kadri, Gunnarson, Phaneuf, Gardiner, Franson's rights, Reimer's rights, Lupul, BOZAK and every other Leaf player you can..... fire Carlyle, promote dude from the AHL.....and Tank for McDavid. DO everything possible to get McDavid....EVERYTHING.
Yeah, I've lost my mind. - mykokes
Uggie wouldn't trade Kadri or Gardiner ...but he would trade Kessel.
I'm not a trade Kessel guy (and it's not going to happen anyway) but you look at this teams issues and its what should probably happen. If they get a tight checking coach on board next year I bet Kessel becomes a 30-35 goal guy. He doesn't score a ton of PP goals like a lot of guys and I dont' see him having an easy adjustment to a tight checking 5v5 system. Kadri and Lupul probably see a regression as well. This style of hockey they're currently playing flatters their offensive numbers - at the cost of poopty team defensive numbers. |

Kessel mans up and takes responsibility for the collapse. Time to go old school and simply give the C to the best player?

The best is listening to him and Bob compare Phil Kessel to Rudy Gay. That says it all. |

Counting UFA's or no? Because I think they will let Bolland, Raymond and Kulie walk regardless

I think that is the big ? of the off-season. If they decide to keep him, at the very least, the captaincy needs to be removed from him. He is symbolic of three straight meltdowns. - fifty__missions
They will keep him, his contract dictates that, have to search for that D man that is a fit, nothing else you can do, I would take the C away but it can have two different reactions on him, make him motivated or make him sulk.
Solid two way players is also a priority, have to get that compete level fixed, which may also be prompted a coaching change. |

I know it probably was IMPOSSIBLE for the Leafs to find a 3rd line C in replacement. Be it from within the system or via trade.

Strongly agree. I think the 'c' might put a little more fight in Kessel. The only problem is it'll be a media-poopstorm if they take it from Phaneuf. |

I think he has more role than a 3rd line C...but what ever floats your boat.
He's the only center we have that plays with any fight....did....
All the players we brought in to make us better than last year...didn't play well or didn't play much or didn't play when we needed them too.

IF they are going to fix the D and bring better two way players with some grit, I would like one on each of the first two lines, I know it is a radical change but they are to easy to play against, then you might have to dip into the farm to fill holes on the third and fourth lines. |

Franson
Gunnarsson
Clarkson
Orr
Reimer - big_dion
Gone:
Franson - Slow, lumbering and useless unless standing still at the point and swinging his stick
Orr - LOVED this guy when he was an enforcer, now he's a shell of one
Reimer - It's clear that JB is number one, and he's a good guy; don't wanna get him to deal with another year like this
On the fence:
Clarkson - Willing to give him a bye this year, but poop son, you gotta show up next year (frank)ing ready to crush!
Bolland - Love what he brings, but if the reports of $5m are true, we gotta pass. Give him a re-do year at $3.5 and I'm happy
Raymond - If he'll take less than $2m, keep him. This is VERY unlikely, so wave goodbye.

At the bottom, if a letter on your jersey makes you a better player in the NHL...something is wrong. |
