Fire nonuts and Carlyle
- senstroll

Again.
Nonis will not fired. Move on.
Firing Carlyle might fix a small problem...but not the bigger issue.

The defense is horrible
The Captain cant lead
The players have no heart or fight
The bottom 6 needs improving.
No consistent second line scoring.

I thought it was pretty relevant that Kessel was man enough to say "I wasn't good enough, I feel like I let Leafs fans down" and take the responsibility upon himself. Isn't that what a leader does?

Revisit after we see who they play first round....as for next season....I fully expect Nate to take a huge step forward. He's the real deal.

Ya, because we're the guys that get paid to fix those things - as opposed to some dudes on the internet.

I don't think anybody here except maybe HH believes that they are the ones to fix things

Thanks -- we should clearly fix the things that don't matter
- Canada Cup

It does matter.

Tampa and Colorado have the same pattern, playoffs and then top 5 pick the next year, let's see which one breaks the cycle.

Blame Gardiner, he's the one who can't make a pass to Kessel to save his life

I love Kessel but don't think he would be a good captain. I also don't think that Phaneuf being the captain is high on the list of problems with the Leafs

Both of these teams will make the playoffs next year as well.. Too much talent not to.

If Ben Bishop could ever stay healthy, as well as the fact that Stamkos-Drouin is going to be (frank)ing terrifying, then Tampa should be just about done with the "top-5 pick" nonsense

If you equate a Captain as a leader on the team, then it was a problem, imo.

In Colorado's defence, RoR did hold out most of last season. And Duchene only just this season under Roy is showing more two way play. Roy really is the wildcard there....the organization for the first time since its glory days finally has some serious structure to it.

As for Tampa, they got their goalie, they got a poopload of kids stepping up, and likewise, they have some serious structure from the NHL right on down to the AHL.

I am not looking at the short term fix, I am looking at the long term one.. Firing Nonis now helps the long term problems... assuming they can hire a GM who is not of the same mold (no use for new data)

Phil outscores the entire team, gets a point per game, clutch scoring all season except for this last bit where everyone sucked and still says "I wasn't good enough".

Just got mad respect for a guy like that is all.

Hedman took the next step and is now a very good top pairing dman.
They fixed the D and it's showing.

The Avs are a bunch of talented kids, that want to be the best. They will push each other to get there.

The Lightening will be lead by Stammer to the playoffs again. Good tender, good leader and good youth in the system.

Plus Palat, (and Johnson, Killorn, Hedman, Gudas) but especially Palat, the guy is unreal on the ice, reminds me of a few Red Wings who went on to be selke candidates.

Good for him for taking responsibility, I would have liked to hear it from a couple of other players.
