Trade Phaneuf for a right handed stay at home d-man..a top 2-4 depending on who gets added with Dion.
Keep Gardiner & Rielly. Let them roll with it. Trade useless ass Franson, bring up Brennan. Trade Reimer, let useless Raymond walk, keep Kulemin depending on how much $ he wants, better not ask for a raise because he hasn't really done that much to deserve one.
Trade Lupul for whatever you can get. Trade Gunnarsson..I'm sorry but he isn't even a 3rd pairing dman. He is trash. Give Kessel the C since he's the only person that shows emotion on this team. He's the only one that yells at his team (see JVR) .
Fire Carlyle, hire Peter Laviolette |

In Colorado's defence, RoR did hold out most of last season. And Duchene only just this season under Roy is showing more two way play. Roy really is the wildcard there....the organization for the first time since its glory days finally has some serious structure to it.
As for Tampa, they got their goalie, they got a poopload of kids stepping up, and likewise, they have some serious structure from the NHL right on down to the AHL. - mykokes
Let's see how some of those players do in their sophomore year because we all know things can change rather quickly, the foundation is there. |

Its probably top 5. - Fakepartofme
As far as I know everyone on the team - players, coaches, GMs - are paid to do a job. Collectively, they failed. We can see those failures when we watch the game (or read CORSI). Team leadership is not limited to one guy and is invisible to us. We don't know what goes on in the room and can't say how players react to Phaneuf or any of the other leaders on the team. Do you think bad give-aways or Reimer's weak glove are the result of Phaneuf being a good captain?

Move out Kulemin, unless he signs for close to what he is making now.
I like Lupul....if only he would stay healthy. I could handle giving him the C.
Kessel....eh....I dont he is C material. |

What long term problems does it fix? - Fakepartofme
Nonis, Loisell and Poulin scoff at analytics
it might take them years to come around if they ever did.
there are new ways to evaluate players we need someone who is willing to take a look at them and use them with the good ol reliable eye test |

Kulemin is a pending UFA, no value in a trade, I know a lot of people hated on the suggestion I made about trading the pending UFA's, now it looked like a good idea, lol. |

Good for him for taking responsibility, I would have liked to hear it from a couple of other players. - LeafMan
I need to see this to believe it. I thought Kessel was busy telling everyone to STFU and slamming his stick on the ice a million times. |

Meh, the analytics may be an extra little tool to help evaluate a player but it isnt the end all be all. I believe Ive heard Nonis say the same thing so Im pretty sure they do use them. Ive never heard Nonis "scoff" at them. |

Shame on him for not selling off pieces of a 3rd place team at the deadline. |

That would be a good start.
Then.....assign a new captain, bring in some players with heart, get a new coach if need be and leave the pond hockey for after hours.
Then the leafs might be going somewhere. |
