Then you agree with me completely.
Morin will get a look and head back to the Q. Gostisbehere will start in the AHL and transition to the big club sometime during the season. I think mid to end of the 11th month. - mayorofangrytown
I wouldn't be shocked if Gostisbehere spent more than half the season in the AHL, it will also depend on if they have a spot for him at the NHL level when they feel he's ready. |

Vinny's goals since the move to the 4th-line "rejuvenated" him, and who he was out against when he scored them:
BOS ES (Campbell/Paille/Thornton, Bartowski/Boychuk)
BOS ES* (Bergeron/Eriksson/Kelly, Chara/Boychuk)
FLA ES (Howden/Pirri/Hayes, Robak/Olsen)
BUF ES (Scott/Leino/Ennis, Weber/McCabe)
* - goalie pulled, out as extra skater w/ top-pp-unit for tying goal
Mostly he's been feasting on the worst players of the opposing team... the vast majority of his shifts are out against 4th-lines and 3rd-pairs. It's a lot easier to find room and make plays when you're getting a steady diet of Colton Orr and Ryan Reaves.
Even if Vinny keeps scoring on the 4th-line like gangbusters, I'm still not thinking of trading Schenn, because I don't have any confidence that Vinny can keep doing what he's doing against top-4 dmen and forwards that can take a regular shift.
I'm also not assuming Laughton can step in and make an impact. - Tomahawk
You gave the information of who was on the ice when Lecavalier scored on 4 goals. I see on two of them, top defensive players such as Campbell, Bergeron and Chara, as well as solid defenseman such as Boychuk and Bartkowsi. Also failed to mention that two of those goals were scored against a top Goalie in Rask. And Boston is a top defensive team top to bottom.
Not sure why there wouldn't be any confidence in Lecavalier scoring against top 4 D men and forwards that take a regular shift, when he has been doing it his entire career. He's scored 20 goals this Season. Surely they haven't all been against the scrubs of the Hockey world. |

I really like Laughton. I can't wait to see him here next season. He's ready. He's doing everything in the CHL. (I wish getting suspended wasn't one) He's doing all the things that scream NHL ready forward. - mayorofangrytown
I thought he looked good enough to play in the NHL in pre season.

Gostisbehere I think will have an adjustment period & it's better that happens in the AHL. - ob18
For sure. I honestly think if they handle him right, he could be really terrific. I'd like to see his progression mimic Duncan Keith, who spent 2 full seasons in Norfolk (not even putting up huge numbers) before they called him up at age 22-23. |

You think they're going to bring everyone back? I think they lose two from the backend. Any injuries and he getting the call. I think he's going to tear up the AHL. I'm going to be the optimist this time man. |

He'll get more than that. That's the salary of a career minor leaguer not a 3rd round selection. - mayorofangrytown
I think the AHL maximum salary for a player on an ELC is about 70K.

No, but I hope they don't make drastic changes either & try to land a big fish that just opens up more areas they'll need to fill. |

But he'll get a check when he signs beyond his salary. He's not just going to get his salary that first year. |

I just hope they don't trade off a 22-year-old 20-goal scoring kid with untapped upside because their steeply declining free agent prize finally showed signs of life again. |

Im not sure how long it will take. I would be as cautious as possible, but If he appears ready, there is no sense in keeping him down there.
I think he can be more than just an offensive defenseman. I think he can be a real good player. Everyone seems to really like him. |

I don't think the scenario that you offer is far fetched, that's for sure.

Also the second line has received sheltered minutes against fourth lines and 3rd pair dmen all season long. Most second lines in hockey receive those type of minutes. |

Gustafsson has to walk doesn't he? He can't come back here after this year for his own sanity. Then they have the two UFAs of significance. |

Not going to factor into it. They're only going to trade Schenn if they can get a true need in return. I actually think that there is a good chance they try and move Lecavalier in the off season even if Schenn is traded.
