I really like Ehrhoff. He's signed to a very friendly deal and I feel his style of play will allow him to age gracefully. He would be the ideal replacement for Kimmo. - PhillySportsGuy
I like Ehrhoff also. Real nice player. But he's not a replacement for Timonen in my opinion. He would definitely upgrade the Flyers D, and if they could add him, I'd move Grossmann. But they still need a replacement for Timonen. |

I honestly think the biggest step they need to take is to replace the Coach. And I'm not blaming Carlyle, he's a very good Coach. But there is just something dysfunctional with that team. Similar to the way the Flyers were under Laviolette at the end. That and they need to get better at Center. - MJL
Yeah Bozak is a decent center but he's not exactly 1st line pedigree. |

I hope Schenn becomes a top pairing defenseman just so you shut the (frank) up about this trade.
Try going a week without mentioning it.
I bet you still call your 4th grade girlfriend and complain about how she kissed another boy playing spin the bottle.

Ehrhoff can log a lot of minutes and play in all situations. He'll also give the team points and the ability to run the point on the PP. Thats pretty much everything Kimmo does. |

They have a #2 defenseman already, in MacDonald. - MJL
I'm not sold on MacDonald as a top pair guy, I think thats what hurt him in NY. I really like him as a guy who can anchor the 2nd pair and eat a lot of minutes. |

Or they could make a trade.
Maybe Edler or someone becomes available. - Marc D
Edler is nowhere near a top pair guy. |

I wonder if the Jets would make Enstrom available.
If he was would any of you be interested if a fair value trade could be made? - Marc D
Omg yes. He would be perfect, but I can't imagine them doing it and I don't want to think about what it would cost |

A very real possibility.
By the time that team is competitive again, he'll be 30+. He definitely could be shipped out. I imagine he'd cost a fortune though. - Giroux_Is_God
Agreed, Erhoff could most likely pair up nicely with Coburn on the top unit, but what is he going to cost and will it be worth it? |

He's very solid.
Plays all situations.
Long contract but fair value.
I think the Sabres won't move him unless they are blown away with an offer. - Marc D
At the very least they are going to want our 2015 1st as part of package. |

I feel like having Streit restricts the team from going after guys who are offensive defenseman.
They signed Streit for offense and to run the PP when Kimmo retires. - PhillySportsGuy
Plus they have Gotisbehere in the pipeline.
I can't see them going after Niskanen if they re sign AMac.
You never know, but Nisk and Amac together will likely eat up 10M of cap space. |

Not big on niskanen from what I've seen lately. Id actually still have interest in Boyle if he wants to sign on for 2 years |

He could replace Kimmo and play top minutes with Coburn I believe.
They could do a lot worse then Edler. |

I really am bad at gauging value. I won't hide it.
That being said, Buffalo doesn't exactly look like they're looking for NHL ready guys. They're stocking up on picks and focusing the future.
I feel like as opposed to Schenn etc, strictly value wise, maybe something like a first, second, and someone like Hagg?
That's probably a low ball but I'm really bad at this and don't normally do it.
Don't know if the Sabres would roll with that though. |

He has a tendency to turn over the puck a lot and he has a bad back as well. I'd really be leery of acquiring him. |

A first and a young center.
I think that is what the Flyers will have to offer if Homer finds the D man he wants.

I could see this playing out a lot of different ways. I thought the Flyers were going to sign Mac by now. They may be further apart than we think. Flyers may say "If Mac wants $5M and Niskanen wants $6M, we might as well sign Niskanen"
I think the primary point is that the Flyers need two skilled dmen for next season. If Kimmo retires, they need two. If he comes back, they'll need one more. |

The problem is that the Sabres need offense prospects more than D. My guess is that they wouldn't settle for less than Laughton, Hagg, 2014 2nd rounder and 2015 1st rounder. That's a pretty steep price.
Remember in their eyes, neither Laughton or Hagg is a sure thing, especially Hagg; a mid round 2nd in this years draft is a crapshoot, and while the first in 2015 is really nice, there is a good chance its pick #20+ if the Flyers have a good year.

I think that would get it done, but I'm not sure I would do that. I would trade Laughton and maybe a 2nd for Ehrhoff. |

Lord I hope they bring AMac back for a few seasons. He's had a fsr reaching effect on this blueline |
