I like a like a few of the people I work with doesn't mean I wouldn't get rid of them if I wasn't the boss. When your the boss you don't get to be friends with your employees. Sad but true. |

True, he also put the balls to the wall in allowing the season ticket holders to have a wait and see approach, mentioning the draft and free agency.
Besides, if he is pursuing a competent GM, which self respecting, intelligent individual would come into this mess believing that maintaining the status quo would spell success?
Any decent candidate would have to realize a shake up is needed.

all good replies about T Linden. The names circulating for GM brings me hope, besides the stupid ones like feaster, naslund et al. Exciting times for us fans, looking forward to draft and july 1st. |

It is not going to be Feaster Naslund or any other circus side show. it will be an active assistant GM . |

you have a pooch, Chest? (and, the key question being of course, if that is the case, does it have any sort of Canuck vest paraphernalia? ) |

Linden said all the right things. Should we be worried? I don't know. I will hold off on my opinion until he makes his first move but I will say I am a huge fan of Linden and have the utmost respect for him and what he has done for the city, charities and the team. He is what the heart of Canuck exemplifies.
FA did the right thing (IMO) firing Gillis before Linden came on board. His initial decision his responsibility. Linden should have no part in that.
I said Gillis's first mistake was not bringing in his own hires for coach. Lets hope the new GM doesn't make that one.(whomever that turns out to be) |

Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Trevor Linden Named President of Hockey Operations
The Vancouver Canucks have announced that Trevor Linden is taking over the role of President of Hockey Operations, just one day after relieving outgoing President and General Manager Mike Gillis of his duties. - Carol Schram
All he's gotta do is go about 4 months without quitting, and he's outlasted the last local legend to be named president of his team. |

I love getting Linden as a major part of the organization. However, I still have reservations and concerns about how he will handle this hockey mad market. Like yourself, Linden is my favourite all time Canuck and possibly all time favourite player period. I don't want to see his legacy in any way tarnished by getting involved in what is a fairly cut-throat area of the business. I think getting an experienced managerial group will be key in terms of the extent of Linden's success. |

When he was captain he faced the masses and always knew how to handle things. I am sure this will be a walk in the park. |

lol I have to say, gotta love your enthusiasm/faith. I just hope the managerial portion of his career is even half as successful as the one he had on the ice. If that will be the case, we are in for some good days ahead |

If he hires the right GM, you shouldn't see him front and center, you should see the GM, who should be making the trades and what not. |

I agree, I think the key to any success going forward is obviously going to depend on ensuring the right people fill in the rest of the managerial/coaching group. I know it sounds simple but it's going to take a lot of in-depth analysis, additional due diligence, and a very comprehensive review of all possible candidates. If they rush this, it's going to continue to be a gong show |

Yes. I really do like Linden but his moves in the next few weeks/month is when I will give my opinion his pres hire. I love Linden but I want to see how this progresses. He has been great in all aspects of his life so I expect no less. |

Food for thought:
@taj1944: Benning gets hired and trades Edler to Boston for couple prospects. #bookit
I think Kesler sticks around now, so this will probably be the "token" big trade of the summer we usually see when new management takes over a team. |

The year before the hiring Gillis said he didn't likeTorts style and before Torts was hired Botch reported many times that Gillis was not a fan and FA was a huge fan. Although nothing has never been confirmed it is not hard to connect the dots. |

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned the only decision Linden will be making of importance is the hiring of the GM. After that he should be operating in the shadows. |
