Agreed. As far as I'm concerned the only decision Linden will be making of importance is the hiring of the GM. After that he should be operating in the shadows.
- AlexF

Thats why I am hesitant. GM hiring is very important. I am very glad its Linden making that choice though and not FA. Full autonomy.

Food for thought:

@taj1944: Benning gets hired and trades Edler to Boston for couple prospects. #bookit

I think Kesler sticks around now, so this will probably be the "token" big trade of the summer we usually see when new management takes over a team.

Give us Reilly Smith and we'll leave it at that.

No way Boston considers that tradeoff.

Guaranteed to New Jersey.

Reilly Smith for Edler would be an awesome return.

Else Spooner and Krug.

I love getting Linden as a major part of the organization. However, I still have reservations and concerns about how he will handle this hockey mad market. Like yourself, Linden is my favourite all time Canuck and possibly all time favourite player period. I don't want to see his legacy in any way tarnished by getting involved in what is a fairly cut-throat area of the business. I think getting an experienced managerial group will be key in terms of the extent of Linden's success.

Re: Tarnishing Linden's Legacy:

Imagine what his legacy would be if we were to win a Cup during his tenure. He could walk around like Joe Thornton after scoring 4 goals, all day-everyday, and nobody would say anything

If it's on the menu.

But to be honest late 1st rd draft picks in weak drafts don't do much for me or this team. Young guys that step in immediately do. I know you were throwing the pick on top of Smith but just saying.

Word. But if you get selected you'll have to consult this forum for all trade and draft ideas. That's the deal.

I don't know what would be worse; having to run something by all of us or Francesco Aquilini?

#Clusterf#$%

Although we were fairly unanimous against bringing in Torts last summer so I'd say that moves us up a notch. We're officially at notch 1.

For anyone that missed Botch's segment on Rinty's show tonight. Give it a listen. 10:15 was the beginning of the segment. Great stuff.

The year before the hiring Gillis said he didn't likeTorts style and before Torts was hired Botch reported many times that Gillis was not a fan and FA was a huge fan. Although nothing has never been confirmed it is not hard to connect the dots.
- VANTEL

Did Gillis really say that about Torts? Botchford,,,, flipper flopper on this stuff all the time.

... but Gillis did say they were going more defensive(because the league was) when he traded CoHo and brought in Pahlsson. He then later commented on it again when he let Ehrhoff walk that they were tightening up. He then fires AV the next season and then we have Tortoisrella with the owner saying it wasnt his own hiring while Gillis previously said it was..... those are quite a few dots that are not second and third hand.

Our media has Eklund's accuracy with their inside rumors.

There was a massive love in for Torts last fall. Its a case of what have you done for me lately. Even Bieksa stands in front of the cameras and say "Torts wont let us quit". The last game looked like they played to get him fired.
