It's about the future not the past.

More Aquilini: 'Trevor is the perfect person to run this hockey club. We're confident in his ability. He had our full trust and confidence.'

It sounds like FA is really trying to distance himself from the rumors that he is the one making hockey decisions.

Fresh start, run it right. What other teams in this league have President and GM in the same office?

Fire Torts, and the Season Ticket renewals will balance it out.

Pretty much. But decisions shouldn't be based on that.

Someone should have asked Linden about the Torts-Calgary situation.

He's hiring Jim Benning - book it.

after firing gillis though, I can't see Aquilini wanting to eat torts pay check as well
- numbear

Less then one years playoff revenue to fire both because of the half off out clauses in both their contracts. Nevermind giving Seasons ticket holders more reason to buy. Many people are boycotting Torts horrible playing style... this is the first year I didn't go to a few games.....

The reason he called Neely is because he wanted two things, how's the transition to management, and, can I have permission to speak to Jim Benning?

Glad Gilman is being kept around since Linden just said he knows nothing about advanced stats.

When FA was asked about the financial implications about missing the playoffs, I thought he was going to respond with lost playoff revenue but he went right to season ticket renewals.

For awhile, a few years ago, we heard talk about huge waiting lists for season tickets and evidently times have changed.

This market doesn't want to stomach Torts' brand of hockey. I'll drive him to the airport, doggies stowed in carriers though.

Linden just said he wants someone who's had experience as a GM/assistant GM. Basically shot down the Shanny rumours.

I wonder how many times Gillman saved Gillis's ass with his cap magic?

He was quick to mention assistant before he said former GM. I think it's gonna be someone who's been an assistant for awhile. Benning, McNab, Hextall, etc.

Regardless, Torts has to go. We wouldnt be in this situation if the team had won.

With a new Pres and a new GM coming there is no way they can keep Torts. I for one dont want to hear in 2 years when they fire torts that the GM didnt hire him and now it is time to hire his own guy. Just go hire that guy now. Even if it means an interim Gulutzan.

You will be building off some momentum with all of this and need to keep it going with a fresh clean look all around.

I think Linden is able to land a good Assistant GM based on the changes that are taking place. I think they need to keep the cap master Gilman on the team though, he has been able to work magic with numbers. We will need that experience going forward.
