Is this like one of those, if you can build a condo development, you can build a Stanley Cup winning team?

Meh...In MOST cases the President has a very small part in the on ice personnel decisions. They are more PR/owner liason/amatuer system types. Remains to be seen how involved he would be in working with a GM.

That said....Linden has always been a beauty.

Great PR move for a team in ruins. I want to see who the GM is and Torts better be gone. None of this will matter if the roster is the same in September. There is going to be a lot of pressure on the the new GM to change the roster and culture of this team in very short time frame.

Yep - pretty much guaranteed

The Residences of Maple Leaf Square is an award winning community project consisting of 44 and 40 storey residential towers atop a 9 storey commercial podium. Located at 55 & 65 Bremner Blvd, these soaring towers are amongst Toronto's most sought after residences. Attached to the ACC and Union Station with direct PATH connection, perched atop "North America's best sports bar", and centrally located between the financial and entertainment districts with the harbourfront just to the south, it would be hard to find a better location to live, work & play.

The key, and certainly most important next step, is to hire an experienced General Manager to manage the team. I'll be waiting.

Exactly. That decision will will be much more crucial then this one. There is a big mess that needs to be cleaned up.

I'm also hoping that the new GM isn't so set on all these NTC's. Those were handed out by Gillis, who said he would never ask a player to waive. Hopefully the new guys is a little more flexible, especially since he didn't hand them out.

What a difference going from McCaw to FA.

If I had more time to research and inclination, I'd put a table together to show the range of owner involvement in decision making throughout.

Is FA the Wang of the west or a little more restrained but still very active like Melnyk?

What is best? What will we see?

I think the best is when the owner just stays the hell away and hires competent people.

I don't think any GM handed out NTCs with the frequency that Gillis did.

Surround himself with good people which I’m sure he will. Hopefully the Aquilini’s will allow him do his job and allow him to repair this team’s reputation.

linden will set the right example, and hire the right people. As long as he doesn't have to negotiate with chelios and his 6 friends all clear

I'm looking forward to the trick where Linden keeps talking while Aquilini drinks a glass of water...

Yeah, that was bad, but what was worse was to hear him say he wouldn't ask anyone with ntc's to waive them.

So if he made a mistake giving one out, he had no intention of addressing his mistakes.

Ya I don't think that'll be the case, today is all about Linden. I honestly thought Nicholson may be announced, but I'm ok with this.
