OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports sources claim the Sabres are shopping Chris Stewart, Christian Ehrhoff, Luke Adam and Drew Stafford, plus they’re willing to listen to offers for Marcus Foligno, Johan Larsson and Chad Ruhwedel
Per Spector. - SABRES 89
Nice. What I want to see. Only thing is stafford made himself useful this season. Must be a contract year |

If we package up Luke Adam, chad ruhwedel and Johan larsson I'm sure we could def get a coupon for a diet Pepsi. Like a good one. 10 cents off |

Interesting to see Myers, Hodgson, and Ennis OFF the list. I thought before they have all 3 on the list of guys Murray was "listening " on |

So as it stands now...
1 Buffalo
2 Florida
3 Edmonton
4 Calgary
5 ny isles
A) what do the Isles do with their pick
B) how far would we consider trading down, assuming someone wants Ekblad & we want a forward? |

Isles keep theirs IMO. No way they can trade a top 5 pick |

I think so too
Actually, I've heard from some NYI fans that think he'll try & trade the pick for a player that can help right away
That makes sense to me bc Snow needs to try n save his job |

Yeah the isles are in a world of trouble. Their window of just squeaking in the playoffs keep getting shorter and shorter. Can't believe their are still professional sports teams that operate like this. |

Every team I see being better than the islanders next season in the east.
Boston
Pittsburgh
Philly
Tampa
Montreal
Rangers
Detroit
Washington
That's 8 simple picks. They could easily be a bottom 7 team next year |
|
|
|
He knows better... Besides, no GM could turn the roster over in one offseason - sbroads24
I hear ya. The Sabres finished 14 pts from #29 Florida and 15 pts from #28 Edmonton. They did this with Ryan Miller holding them in games for most of the season. Even if they improve they will still, no doubt, finish in the bottom 3 teams in the league next season. |

Those are all sure things IMO
I also think Cbus will definitely be better
They are young and only going to improve
Florida is also a team on the rise. Their young guys are going to keep getting better, they have a nice group of decent vets, and now that thu have Luongo they should challenge for a playoff spot.
Toronto should be as well. Besides Tavares (who will be coming off an injury) there's no one else on their roster that's better than the Leafs forwards. Toronto has superior goalies at the moment which should keep them ahead of NYI
Carolina has pretty good forwards. Defense and goaltending is at least as good as NYI, so the Canes should finish better as well.
Things went bad for Ottawa this year. Can't imagine them not improving. Lehner/Anderson should be better, that alone will help. As long as goaltending doesn't suffer, their roster is clearly better than the Isles.
NJ prob has to replace Jagr, but their scoring should still be similar to the Isles. Bc of goaltending, they get the nod over NYI... But it could be close if NYi can find a goalie.
Then there's the Sabres. I actually think we might be better than NYI with a full year of Nolan.
At the very least, I think NYI is battling Us for worst team in the East, possibly with NJ...
Only teams I see out west being as bad for sure is Calgary...
Possibly winnipeg as well. They've got some talent, but just seem to be a mess.
Phoenix & Nashville aren't good, but they aren't bad either. It'll take something major to go wrong for NYI to be better than either of them...
Vancouver will be back to being decent with healthy Twins & bringing in a goalie.
And yes, the Oilers will finally start to improve!
Bottom line...
I think NYI picks somewhere between 1-6 next year
And I think that pick will be ours!
Awesome |

Anybody else think we might take a shot at signing Orpik?...I'd definatly like this move (cap floor, vet d-man) considering that Zads and McCabe are probably 1 year and 2 years off respectivley....
Orpik Myers
Pysyk Ristolinen
Ruhwedel Tallinder (i think they resign him)
I mean i'm sure those lines would mix and match but realistically i think that could be our top 6 for game 1 next year
Pretty sure Ehrhoff leaves in a trade |

I could see that,
But only if Pitt doesn't want him
I think he stays there at a discount,
But I could def see us making a move like that

It'll take some luck...
But I don't think it's all that far fetched that we get McDavid AND Eichel in next years draft
Especially if Eichel goes to Boston College
His stats won't be as good as the guys in Juniors that are ranked right behind him, so he could slip a spot or two....
Plus, hannifin is a very highly rated defenseman who could go as high as 2nd
Things could fall into place for us quite nicely next draft for us |
