IMO McCabe is similar to Nik Kronwall
Plays bigger than what he is, does everything well, and can lay the body - sbroads24
I like that comparison as well. I was just going Buffalo's D. But Kronwall is a good one. |

McCabe is going to be better than Weber?
Jesus Christ he better be. Weber is the worst defenseman in the (frank)ing league. - PassionBucket16

I don't think we should compare anyone to Mike Weber ever. Unless you're trying to say how bad someone is. That's the only time the comparison is appropriate. |

Those are all sure things IMO
I also think Cbus will definitely be better
They are young and only going to improve
Florida is also a team on the rise. Their young guys are going to keep getting better, they have a nice group of decent vets, and now that thu have Luongo they should challenge for a playoff spot.
Toronto should be as well. Besides Tavares (who will be coming off an injury) there's no one else on their roster that's better than the Leafs forwards. Toronto has superior goalies at the moment which should keep them ahead of NYI
Carolina has pretty good forwards. Defense and goaltending is at least as good as NYI, so the Canes should finish better as well.
Things went bad for Ottawa this year. Can't imagine them not improving. Lehner/Anderson should be better, that alone will help. As long as goaltending doesn't suffer, their roster is clearly better than the Isles.
NJ prob has to replace Jagr, but their scoring should still be similar to the Isles. Bc of goaltending, they get the nod over NYI... But it could be close if NYi can find a goalie.
Then there's the Sabres. I actually think we might be better than NYI with a full year of Nolan.
At the very least, I think NYI is battling Us for worst team in the East, possibly with NJ...
Only teams I see out west being as bad for sure is Calgary...
Possibly winnipeg as well. They've got some talent, but just seem to be a mess.
Phoenix & Nashville aren't good, but they aren't bad either. It'll take something major to go wrong for NYI to be better than either of them...
Vancouver will be back to being decent with healthy Twins & bringing in a goalie.
And yes, the Oilers will finally start to improve!
Bottom line...
I think NYI picks somewhere between 1-6 next year
And I think that pick will be ours!
Awesome - jdfitz77
you are so unaware of whats going on with other teams, arent you? |

This seasons Mike Weber yes I agree. But I am not the one to absolutely hate on Weber. But that being said I'm not a Weber lover either!
He has played the last month with a broken foot FYI. He might be bad but he has guts thats for sure. |

Id be ok with him as a 7/8th guy.
He's been flat out awful for 70% of his career though. That short season was an a mystery.
The Isles made the playoffs, the Leafs made the playoffs, Weber played defense |

Hahaha!! Oh I agree. I think there is a place for him on this team next year though. Then after next season a 7th/8th guy going forward. He is a heart and soul guy and I know its not measurable but those are guys that get respect in NHL locker rooms. |

I'm not sure if they trade the pick. That would be 2 years in a row not drafting in the first round - Stripes77

I've always hoped that he could turn into that guy that was a solid 5-6 guy. But he can't seem to put it together from year to year.
Is he a consummate team guy? Absolutely. He's fearless out there. But when you only have room on your team for maybe 7 defensemen, I need someone who is a consistent force out there more. |

ive dealt with him plenty (and his emoticons)... i just think the dudes assessment of whats goign to happen was a little more wishful thinking than based on fact. |

I think he means Isles keep the pick in 14 defering the pick to Buffalo in 15.
Isles then trade the 14 pick for NHL d-man and top 9 forward.
Thus not drafting in the first round 2 years in a row. |

It was an assessment. An unprofessional opinion. It's like a guy who reads about cars telling you how to build an engine.
Edit: It may or may not be ridiculous as hell. But whatever. |

I think that's why we all get so frustrated with him though. He'll make a great play, and then follow it up with the most bonehead move ever. |

Perfect example yesterday , makes a good play by taking the puck away from someone, then follows it up with just throwing down the ice to no one and getting the icing call.... He just can't put it together |

Exactly where I was going with that. I just shook my head and laughed, which is pretty much what I did with the entire team this season. I think him playing the 5/6 role next year with hopefully better matchups makes him serviceable |

My favorite move is when he screens the goaltender and then gets in the way of him making the save and it bounces in off his leg or skate.
It's Kalinin all over again. |

Those stories always crack me up. These guys make all this money yet wear equipment from when they were in Jrs because they're superstitious about it. Biron had the same pair of skates that he wore for what seemed like an eternity. He just kept having the blades and laces replaced. |
