Off topic, I need some help with a hockey-ish related problem. Hypothetically speaking, say you walk into a hockey conversation with a group of people who usually are interesting and entertaining. But there are a couple different people in the convo and the group spends way too much time talking about the minority's favorite team, instead of the majority of the group's favorite team. For arguments sake, let's make up a name, say, the Drylanders. How do you politely and tactfully move the conversation from the Drylanders drivel to something worthwhile?
Thanks. I'll hang up and listen. - keptupl8

good question...ill try to answer your question with a question...and of course feel free to ask yourself this question 17x a day...
do you think the islanders are going to keep this years pick or give it to the sabres? if you think they keep it, in 4 pages or more, explain why. if you think the isles give it to the sabres, feel free to drink yourself into oblivion and then the same 4 page or more report is requested.
edit; having said that, that little rant was pretty funny...touche. |

That sounds fun. I bought tickets back in February. Sitting 2 rows behind the Amerks bench. I know that it can be hard to see what's going on at times from there, but thought it could be fun. |

Here's an interesting question that for some reason just popped in my head....
So, Nolan is cleaning out the coaching staff here. Do you think they do the same in Rochester? Cassidy was technically Regier and Rolston's guy. Do you think Murray keeps things there as they've been? If he does get rid of them, do you think Nolan has some say as to who they bring in? |

From the sound of Nolans interviews he did say he was looking forward to working with Cassidy going forward. So he might be retained. Besides I think he (Cassidy) has done a great job with how many recalls there have been this year and they control their own destiny for the playoffs. |

I haven't had an issue with Cassidy and I agree. I think he's done a great job too. The only reason I thought maybe his job could be in jeopardy is because he's "leftover" from the previous regime. |

I hope nolan has little to no say, personally. I dont want him to be here any longer than necessary. I don't think nolan is the long term solution moving forward. I dont think he'll be the guy to lead a team of (hopefully) very skilled youngish players in 3 or 4 years.
With all that said I think it would be a mistake to allow him to replace people with "his" guys if the plan isn't to make him the long term solution (which i hope it isnt).
I think murray is a very intelligent man with a great vision. I want this team to be "his" team, not nolan's |

I think it depends on how certain players are developing. If Murray thinks they are on the right path why make a change that could stunt their development? |

I don't have an issue with Nolan sticking around IF he brings in the right assistants to help in the areas he isn't that great at. He needs an X's and O's guy. Someone who can relate to the skilled players the way he relates to the blue collar guys.
And if you noticed, I did say that the decision is ultimately Murray's. I just wondered if they would allow Nolan to have some sort of input.
As far as not letting him bring in his guys, whether it's here or for Rochester, is just silly. He knows what areas he needs help with, so why not let him at least be a part of the process? Not to mention, that the Rochester coach needs to have a good relationship with the Buffalo coach, since in all reality you want them playing the same type of game to make callups an easier transition. |

We love Amerks games . Great building and better food than FNC . The action on the ice is good too.

Well, it seems that whatever Cassidy is doing with Grigorenko since he got assigned there is working. Kid has been pretty good from what I've heard. No goals yet, but 4 points in 6 games is a nice start. It's really the attitude that he has there that's surprising to me. He's kind of taken charge there from what I've heard. |

That point they got yesterday from the shootout loss was huge. It really helped. Takes some of the pressure off. I would think they should be able to get 1 more point now that they're getting some of their top end guys back. |
