This rebuild is going to last 3 years anyway. Reinhart is still my preferred pick, but if the Sabres lost the lottery, and whoever is #1 ends up with Reinhart, then Ekblad does more for my team now and in the future than anyone else in this draft class. I need a player worth building a team around. To me, that's Reinhart or Ekblad. Bennett doesn't do that for me, in large part because he's a winger.

John Scott losing that fight was ridiculous, seriously starting to think he is not that tough really and his height makes him very cumbersome, he does not need to be back next year. A guy like Johnson is much better, smaller, better centre of gravity, can probably actually hit better as well.

I know this team needs scoring badly, but if the Sabres end up with him, I highly doubt we'll be disappointed in a couple of years.

If we end up playing like Nashville has/does I will definitely be upset.

I'm not 100% sold that we will be picking Eichel or McDavid next year, which then means if we draft Ekblad, we then need to make a trade for a #1 center... Which rarely happens

Yeah I agree. It's far easier to get a great dman outside of the top 10 pick than it is to get an elite foward

Dal Colle won't go top 5. Draisaitl could go top 2. His skating is what needs to improve and I'm sure it will

Not to mention we are set on the blueline. Our top 6 is pretty much set for 10 years unless one of these guys fall flat on their face which as of right now seems highly unlikely.

I'll be honest I'd rather trade down then select a defensemen.

Draisaitl didnt have any teammates in Prince Albert. He ran the show. Hes heavier. Plays C. No way is MDC "way better". Plus MDC wasnt the same when Laughton was at WJC.
