Ask the Oilers fans how they feel when they continued to pass over D for the same undersized wingers each year.. Its the same thing only reverse for Buffalo... We cant afford to waste a pick this high on defense. We haven't drafted this high since 1987... We need to take a forward here and not look back.. - bluengold12
The difference is we're not talking about an undersized winger. We're talking about one of two positions that make the most impact on a team. This team is still void of difference makers at just about every position. Reinhart and Ekblad are difference makers. The rest don't seem to be. |

I'm not so sure us and other teams have Reinhart rated the highest.. It wouldn't surprise me if at least half the teams in the league have a similar ranking as the CSS.. Bennett or Ekblad 1 and 2 and Reinhart at 3.. If this is the case then maybe getting 2nd overall wont be so bad.. |

Any one of them 3 could be the face of the team in 3 years. I'm not worried about it . We have no say so in the matter. So they can't blame us . |

I don't think its as big of a deal as your making it.. and even if you were..
Risto, Zadorov, Myers, McCabe, Pysyk
That's your top 5 right there and add another key vet in their and D is truly and honestly not a need... we were record breakinly bad this year and even though we gave up a lot of shots they weren't always high impact chances.. we weren't last in the league in goals allowed.. Now.. goals for.. Well in that we were not only dead last but worst in the expansion era of the NHL.. We need offense and with the top 3 being so close and us no matter what having a shot at the very least 1 of the 2 it just doesn't feel right to take D again |

Just remember who was against drafting Kassian and wanted Kreider. And remember who said Ristolainen would be an excellent pick at #8, and that there was NO WAY Shinkaruk was going in the top 10 and he would fall like Ennis did...

I drove the Girgensons truck said he would have the C some day if we drafted him lots of people wanted Gaunce, Samuelsson, wilson, faksa, |

You need an impact defensemen that can be dominant at both ends of the ice. The closest thing to that is Myers, who has yet to show he can do that for an entire season. Ekblad is supposed to be able to turn into that, similar to a Shea Weber, Duncan Keith, or Drew Doughty (all of whom are still a fair distance ahead of Tyler Myers). This team will need that guy sooner or later.
A lot of this hinges on what the Islanders do. If they give Buffalo the 2013 pick, there's very little difference in the forwards as far as having an impact goes. If Buffalo ends up with #2, and the Islanders pick, they'll be better off taking Ekblad (assuming Reinhart goes #1) and whatever's left of Ehlers, Dal Colle, and Draisaitl. At least you have the closest thing to a sure bonafide difference maker. |

That would assume you had the foresight that they would trade up in the draft, or felt Grigorenko wouldnt fall to 12? Gaunce, Samuelsson, Wilson at 21 made sense though.
I was heavy on the Teravainen train! Choo-choo! |

Chris Phillips was said to be a difference maker. Same with Cam Barker or even Erik Johnson. Viktor Hedman took 4 years.
The forwards picked in the top 3 almost always become difference makers, at a much higher percentage than defensemen |

If Myers were on Chicago or LA he wouldn't be too far off those mentioned.
Also, impact defensemen can be found throughout the draft because they are difficult to predict. Forwards are a safer bet, we need an impact forward. Now |

Myers along with Risto are very capable impact defensemen. Ekblad hasn't shown anything either.. The argument of drafting unproven defensemen has been beaten to death on here.. Shea Weber doesn't win you a championship.
Were not getting the Isles pick unless they pull off a deal to obtain another 1st round pick this year.. Otherwise expect our pick to be the only 1 in the 1st we get.. I'm expecting less and less that we get the Blues pick.. Don't think they make the western finals and have a feeling Miller doesn't resign either.. |

Drew Doughty - theblueandgold
There's always exceptions. Unfortunately Drew Doughty wouldn't make this team much better with the forwards we have |

I cant believe anybody would eat wings in any sauce other than varying degrees of hot sauce.
Medium.., charred (?) barbecue, honey mustard!? Ew. |

I 95% agree with this. Hot sauce is the way to go. But I got a honey mustard soft spot |
