blues fans coming into a Hawk thread and whining about Hawk fans being optimistic. Rollie isn't going to be happy.

These Blues fans remind me of the whining Philly fans looking for respect in the 2010 finals. Though we know how that felt last year against Boston (if you were a casual fan, you would have been hard pressed to hear anything about the Hawks).

Oh ya, and I'm going with the guy who got us going this season... Bollig for first goal in the playoffs

Miller just doesn't have that confident look about him. Don't know if its age or diminished skill, but Halak was at the top of his game and really don't understand the trade. Could be wrong and Miller might go into the stratosphere and shut us down. Either way this will be a great series. Last time I saw a Hawks/Blues playoff game in person was 89/90 at the old barn. Great place it was.. Yes Im old.

You are right - there is every reason to be confident in the Hawks.

Its not the picking Chicago its the blatant disregard for a good blues team.

I think it will be a tough series for the blues to win but dont expect us to lay down either.

Hawks in four or five doesn make sense.

Hawks in 6 or 7 makes more sense.

Hey, a Hawks fan board, on a board where you can discuss the general NHL in a different place, is optimistic about the Hawks chances? You don't say! Write on the Blues board. Enjoy your 3 man conversation and Hitchcock telling reporters that shootout wins and the 3rd game of the season mean the Blues are a better team. Safe travels.

It's not like our team has ever won anything, Bows. Blues fans are trying to make sure we are realistic. After all, Vegas odds say they've already won the Cup. They don't want us to get disappointed. The fellas on here really do have some nerve getting their hopes up.

Just like someone saying that they want the Blackhawks to blast one off of Backes foot? Bad karma?

I wasn't stating that they should do anything dirty to Toews. Just pointing out that it will likely go both ways. Both teams are likely going to target guys coming back from injury to try and limit their play. A clean check on Toews to see how his shoulder really is, no different than someone shooting at Backes foot if he is in a shooting lane.

I am not trying to start stuff.

- carcus

Oh no the Blackhawks board is biased and hates David Backes, what ever will we do? It's so unfair the Hawks fans make of Backes, let's make fun of Toews on their fan board. Teams hit each other in the playoffs, gasp! Someone tell Toews, I'm sure he's not used to any physical play in the playoffs.

Seems like someone on this board may have been saying this for a while. But losses to Nashville are really indicative of the Hawks post season success. Plus, that goal differential

Why the heck we have to post some cautious posts about how Blues can give us fits? 2 CUPS last 4 years, pretty decent squad, coach with the great mustaches, what else can one dream for? Frank all that, we just go and get er done
Shyt, it is supposed to be my pregame post. And it is 3 more days

- Uncheckable21

Your right
You must admit it's been an up and down year...without the recent Blues injuries and fall from scoring grace Hawks would be underdogs .. Not huge under dogs but not favorites.
The Blues collapse has happened faster than a Nolan Ryan fast ball so it's difficult to grasp so quickly.

I am optimistic .....however after watching the Wings dominate us last year in the first 4 games of round 2
I am now prepared for almost anything.

In the West .....without using a worn out cliche "Anything is possible"

I think you replace Hossa with Toews. We know Hossa will show up, but we dont know what condition Toews is in and if shows up what can he contribute.
- faustus1500

The first question I always ask myself before big games, is noted big game choker Jonathan Toews going to show up?

Yes, but it is more up then down lately. Anyways just don't want to think about negative stuff. It is more like "what line combos will we win with?" for me.
P.S.: not a big deal but IIRC Wings did not dominate game 1.

Yeah you can see what is type when you quote it. The censor is one of the reasons I swear so much on here. It cracks me up. In time, you will find yourself thinking like the censor does. Well, that is if you were to think in English.

How was that on Trotz?

I was at that game and the Predators were moving it down in the zone and cycling....only when Erat tried to push it to a d man and had it bounce off the side of the net did it cost them....that's not on the coach, that's on the player. They pushed the Hawks to the brink and nobody ELSE came close the rest of the 2010 playoffs.

He played a very frustrating system that bottled up the Hawks with a large disparity in talent. Only when Q adjusted did the Hawks take charge....and even then it almost wasn't enough (see game 5).

Trotz in my book Is a top coach and I bet he gets a gig pretty quickly. Hopefully outside of the western conference. His pred teams always gave the Hawks major problems.

- SteveRain

It's all the coaches fault because he determines who is on the ice and the last person that should have been was Erat and there never should have been 2 forwards behind the net.

A timeout should have been called, instead of trying to score a power play goal when up by 1 in that situation..BTW that would have been their 1st PP goal all series.

Instead of knowing how to win they found a way to lose as they got scored on shorthanded while Kane stood near the blueline.

That's all on coaching as the club never took the next step.

The point is Trotz was limited in some ways but he had enough talent to win in the playoffs at least get past the 1st round and that didn't happen. Carolina is a small market team and they won a Cup.

I will stand by my comment...Since 2010 overrated as a head coach and if the rest of the NHL community agrees with you Trotz will be hired very soon...
I don't think so...

Poile was hamstrung by ownership issues but he could follow Trotz soon.

I wrote it and people I heard from said Suter/Parise were going to the Wild..

He didn't sign Suter ahead of his last year...Onwership issues had something to do with that but losing him for nothing was costly.

That meant he had a gun to his head to sign Weber and paid a good sum to do that...End result is they paid 2 players about $15 mill long term and then go out and sign a Stalberg to be what he never was....So I don't disagree on Poile but ownership there was an issue.
