Heard an interview the other day on the Score with some guy who is a sport business guy. He described more as utilizing the equity they have already gained since they bought the Cubs. According to him and some quick math, they already have a 33% gain in value of the franchise.

Heard that - understand it - might as well try to take advantage of the $300MM +/-

But - I think the family is concerned about the current cash situation. Attendance is down, Epstein is spending good but not yet providing wins, Ricketts knows they need to spend for free agents at some point, plus they need $200/$300/500 MM or whatever it is on the ballpark - of which, by the way, they haven't spent any yet.

Plus the $810MM to buy the thing.

I think they didn't really understood how much the family would need to front.

I think the improvement that would create the most revenue streams is the jumbotron ...and with the rooftop owners contract I cant see how they can do that...

Yes. Veeck never had any money to do any up keep at all. The new place is awesome. Its so nice to walk around the concourse and have room to actually breathe.
- Elbows15
That's because there are no fans there. Leaves a lot of room to walk around.

Quick Question,

Does anyone know or have access to a Playoff Draft cheat sheet or Draft Kit. I am trying to find something online for my office playoff pool that lists projected line up and current stats/injuries team by team.

I refuse to pay rotowire for something like that. Anyone have a good place to find or download a pdf of a draft kit?

A few things Hawks need to do as a team:
>Make Blues go 200 feet with the puck -- Blues have not shown that they can pass the puck well enough to be a consistent threat working the puck up the ice
>Limit D-zone faceoffs -- no careless icings and stay out of the penalty box
>Obstruct Blues forecheckers without drawing a penalty -- the quicker the puck is out of the Hawks zone after a dump-in, the more the game will be played at the Hawks pace
>Deny Blues point men the puck and limit their shot attempts -- Blues get a lot of action from their points -- take this away and their offense will be even more challenged
>Be ready for the Blues to turn their D loose on the very first shift of Game 1 -- Hitch is going to have to give his players something "new" to believe in that will help the Blues score
>Win the puck races, board battles, slot areas
>Keep shifts short, but make smart changes

You make me think this will lead to when and where.

When does Wrigley come down?

Where is the new stadium to be located?

Settle with them - give them $10MM each to go away - you're already spending hundreds of millions, what's the difference?

Or build the Jumbotron's and let them sue - the family should have enough money and legal resources to outlast them - tie them up for years.

Sam Zell never should have signed a contract with them in the first place.

Sam Zell screwed the Tribune Company, the employees, the newspaper franchises, the Cubs - and he has the balls to say the the "one percent are better because they work harder".

He had to work real hard to cause all of that damage.

Ok. Looking pretty sparse at Wrigley these days. One team sold out for opening day. And it wasn't the Cubs. I guess when you haven't won anything since dinosaurs roamed the Earth, talking about attendance is it.

They just need to buy the rooftop owners off. If they will not take the money then move the team. Trust me, once the Cubs put the City on notice they are moving the rooftops will be gone. Way to much money for the city to lose. Just not sure Ricketts has the stones to do it.

Those contracts run out in 2017, I think. Its going to court and Rickett will win. The only issue is whether the case is settled before the contracts run out.

IMO Ricketts biggest mistake was from day one saying the Cubs would never move out of Wrigley...always leave yourself an out..

Agree. Die hard Cub fan and would not come anywhere near that park. Will say weather had a little to do with that.

Thanks, yeah I came across that one already, just listed played by position, not team by team, pretty brutal. Thanks for taking a look though

Take it to court then. There is no way Ricketts will lose. Roof top owners have been stealing the product for years. Too bad for them. The gravy train has ended. Most idiotic business arrangement ever, imo.

Pretty sure it was in the upper 40's and 40mph wind gusts. 60 for the Sox. Yes, I do remember the upper decks being closed. Ha Ha

Blows, shall I go back and find the photo of Lou Gehrig at bat with nobody in the upper deck of Comiskey?

Never will understand why the Trib did sign that deal - rooftop owners WERE stealing product - certainly the Cubs could have shut them down.
