Should be a great series...the Blues have played well all year and have hit a rough stretch here. They should get a number of their key guys back for the start of the series. We get Kane back and hopefully Toews.

Carcus mentioned that the Blues will become the hunter again. Here's the thing though the Hawks are the current Cup champs which means everyone wants to raise their game throughout the season and beat you.

Meanwhile St. Louis led the league for most of the season and was picked by many early on to win the Cup this season. They also went all in on the deadline deals for Ott and Miller. One would think there's a lot of pressure on the Blues right now especially with the way their season ended, by losing the division as well as the President's Trophy.

I guess if I put on the Espo jersey (oddly tight fitting once was a tent) and serve as back up goalie from my porch with a Budlight, that's ok.

Wish Keith would follow the Lidstrom model and work on accurate wrist shots from the point. Love the effort on the big wind up slapper,, but for phuck sake #2... at least get it to the net.

Lots of Hawks optimism on this board
I am guardedly optimistic

I cheared the Coyotes match up in 2012 and I cheared the Wings knocking out the Ducks last year
We all know the result in 2012 and if not for a great come back against the Wings last year we were dead in the second round
So I am not chearing the Blues match up this year

The west is so balanced that anyone could go deep

Dallas will be No bargain for the Ducks
Minnie no walk over for the Avs
LA SJose will go 7 and
Hawks Blues could also be 7

- PEIHawkFan

Agree. Hopefully the Hawks come out flying in game 1 and if the Blues have injuries are able to end it sooner rather than later. I like the Hawks in 6 but like you said this will be a tough series.

Looking forward to the series.

I find it odd that the Blues are still favored for the series/better odds for winning the cup as well still in Vegas.

Have to say, when I go to games up here at the Joe and where my Hawk jersey, I don't get too much grief. Most of the people are pretty cool.

Some of the younger crowd were poppin off last year during the playoffs but thankfully i still didn't end up wearing any beer.

Its not the picking Chicago its the blatant disregard for a good blues team.

I think it will be a tough series for the blues to win but dont expect us to lay down either.

Hawks in four or five doesn make sense.

Hawks in 6 or 7 makes more sense.

- sycsam

I understand your point, but I think many posts here (including one by me) have said the Blues will play better than they have lately, and that the Hawks will need to play well to get past them. I suspect that right now, Hawks fans think more highly of the Blues' ability than do most Blues fans.

Also, the number of games needed to end a series can be very misleading. The Hawks won four straight against the Sharks in 2010, but it was anything but an easy series.

Enjoy the series.

You will be one in like 8k on Saturday I would bet. (well, maybe 3k with a Kane jersey)

I don't really mind the influx of Blackhawk fans. Yes it can get annoying, but unless it is a blowout, those are really fun games as everyone is in the game and loud, if nothing else to try and outdo the visiting fans.

Then on top of that, it will be a playoff game. This is going to be fun. All I ask is that I don't get half a cup of beer dumped on my back on a good scoring chance like the last home game against Chicago.

- carcus

As much trash talk that goes on these games are no where near as bad as it was in the 80s. A red jersey and hawks win meant a broken bus window a couple pilfered banners and in one case a few thrown beers. After the games St Louis fans/ bars are as good as any these days. And it is normally 10 degrees warmer than Chicago.

Hmmmm, maybe the commish has let some secrets out to the casino bosses. Alright get out your tinfoil hats now.

But seriously they have played arguably the best hockey all year and are built well for the playoffs with good D and a great goaltender. Well great until recently.

But they have to keep up with the hawks which will be no easy task.

Those outside St. Louis probably see the poor stretch at the end of the year as an exception or a slump. Also, odds are set to attract equal money on both sides.

Snow finally melted, and this weekend the "joggers were sporting the pre-summer bodies near Wrigley. So I decided to join in. Ugh! Maybe next year. Hey that's the Blues/Cubs motto

Why the heck we have to post some cautious posts about how Blues can give us fits? 2 CUPS last 4 years, pretty decent squad, coach with the great mustaches, what else can one dream for? Frank all that, we just go and get er done
Shyt, it is supposed to be my pregame post. And it is 3 more days

Most of us are Chicagoans, which means we have a looooooooong history of being disappointed by teams that we believed to be good. It isn't fair to the current players, but that explains the caution.
