What section of the CBA is that?
Actually it has to do with age, not because he's an NCAA player. Gaudreau contract can't slide because he was 20 years old when he signed his contract. And the slide rule only applies to 18 and 19 year olds. So maybe you aren't having such a good day either.
And that information can be found in section 9.1 (d) of the CBA - MJL

How much Kimmo going to make next year? Or are you planning on letting him walk? - TheJerseyDevil1
I think if he is coming back for another year he will probably stay with the Flyers. I dont think he will pull an Alfredsson but you never know. I think he will probably get the same or a little less than what he is making. The people who think he will return for 4 million are crazy |

I thought the same thing just days ago but you don't park a ferrari in an AHL garage.
Haag is starting to look like a bit of a project. I want to see Morin in the preseason to see where he's at. He's improved steadily this season (OB says, I've seen him play 6 times through the year.).
If they're going to lose two or three Defensemen this off season I think we'll see Gostisbehere and Alt make the roster or they'll bring someone in and Alt goes back. - mayorofangrytown
have you seen Alt play much?
do you think he can be an NHL player?
I only saw him briefly at the end of last season. |

I'd be OK with that. They would have to trade Grossmann or LSchenn and maybe a forward to fit him into the salary cap. - Marc D
Flyers have to be careful about becoming to finesse oriented defensively. MacDonald is a finesse defenseman, and isn't all that physical. I think it would be a mistake to get into a long term deal with the type of player that Niskanen is. Wouldn't like that mix. |

During the regular season, for any player to practice with the team, he has to be recalled, added to the roster and count against the salary cap for every day that he is on the team's roster and practicing.
So feel free to expand my knowledge and tell me how a team can just have any player they want practice with them at any time.
There are roster limits both in the regular season, and in the playoffs. - MJL
You're talking about players who are under contract. I'm not.
I even know a guy (yeah, yeah everyone knows a guy) who runs a goalie camp and used to play in the Federal league. He works in Vorhees and when there have been goalie injuries he's filled in a couple times. No contract no nothing, just out there taking shots in practice.
They've run articles on guys that have done it in the local papers. I'm not saying that it happens all the time but it happens occasionally. It's perfectly legal. |

i disagree a little. id be wary about maybe sinking that much money into it, but i think a little skill/finesse wouldnt hurt you guys back there. macd reminds me of paul martin a little bit. niskanen and martin have arguably been the pens 2 most important defenders this year |

Not a fan of the term or money for MacDonald, but it likely is what he could get as a UFA. Ecstatic about Gostisbehere. |

Here's the list of unsigned RFA's currently. Lots of big names on there. Not a big deal that Schenn isn't signed at this point.

So the slide rule doesn't apply to Laughton like I said?
And you're saying it doesn't apply to Gaudrea like I said.
So Laughton can slide to the CHL without it counting a year against his contract like I said?
And Gaudreau has to eat up a year of his contract by playing a single game in the NHL like I said.
My day seems pretty solid and I didn't spend the last hour pouring through the CBA just to get faced.
Later. |
