And Stolarz contract did slide. So it's age related.
- MJL

It depends because once a player reaches 20 he is an overage player in juniors and each team is only allowed so many as the season goes along. So at some point if no team has room for one AHL is the option.

Yea, a Rangers prospect left the NCAA this year to go play Juniors. But he was under a professional NHL contract, so I'm not sure if he can sign an NHL contract and then get sent to juniors.
- rangerdanger94

I think the Stolarz situation clarifies that a player can sign an ELC, losing his NCAA eligibility. Then be sent to Junior Hockey and have his contract slide.

The scenario were discussing can only be for a player who was 18 0r 19 at the time of the deal. And there are lot's of Junior teams around.

Ah sorry, I misunderstood the Stolarz situation. I thought he, like the Rangers prospect, left the NCAA to join juniors and then 2 months later signed his ELC.

No, I think you had that part right. I posted it in the wrong chronology. I think he left before signing his ELC. But regardless I think it shows that a player can leave the NCAA and go to Junior hockey and still have his ELC slide.

True but most can not go to any junior team they desire. If they are drafted within a league (each league has rights to specific US states) & they want to leave college and sign in juniors it has to be with that team unless that team trades his rights to somebody else within that league.

Stolarz wasn't drafted by any OHL club since his home is NJ and that's part of the OHL territory

Oh, well basically what I'm not 100% sure of is whether players signed to professional NHL contracts are allowed to join juniors after they sign it if they've never played in them before.

So a player can't be a junior free agent so to speak? There are territorial rights?

They can but they must go undrafted in that leagues draft for I believe 2 years.

Some teams like the London Knights always take the risk with a few players a year because they've have much success convincing kids to play for them, other still draft them even if it's in a later round in hopes of moving their rights for a nice haul later.

This tells you what places get rights in the 3 major junior leagues. It gets even crazier if you want me to get into the Jack Eichel situation (Top target for 2015)

Could easily happen.

Flyers are the team that will have to make adjustments initially to start this series. Should be a good one hopefully.

CSP gets pulled every game and posts an all time league high GAA and all time low save percentage.

Dare to Dream.

I think the Flyers have to play their game not make adjustments. The team that wins the puck battles, is up on their skates, and get's to the net, will win this series. It's been that way all year for the Flyers. Play their game and they can win. Show up and not skate well, or with inconsistency, and they won't win.

I'm actually pretty nervous about AV's coaching ability in the playoffs. He seems like a guy that doesn't pick up on necessary adjustments too well. It did him in in the Bruins series.

It's nice that the Dub gets Minnesota and the Q gets Boston to help offset Ontario's huge natural advantage.

Wonder if G's career would have been different if he had been drafted into the OHL.

It's good and bad........A player like Jack Eichel because he is from Boston was drafted by Halifax but they gave up trying to get him to play so traded his rights to Saint John who isn't having much luck either.

Word was he wants to play in the OHL and be able to go head to head with McDavid but in order for that to happen he'd have to be waived by every team in the Q would have to pass on his rights, this will not happen.

There is also talk that Quebec may try to convince him to play for them as they also have the right to his close friend Noah Hanifin and could try to acquire his rights & have both of them forgo their college commitments.

Going in Quebec's favor is they won the rights to host next years Memorial Cup

If I recall he even had to try out for Gatineau and wasn't successful at first.
