If I recall he even had to try out for Gatineau and wasn't successful at first.

Not surprising that he plays like he's got a mile-wide chip on his shoulder.

I'm actually pretty nervous about AV's coaching ability in the playoffs. He seems like a guy that doesn't pick up on necessary adjustments too well. It did him in in the Bruins series.
- rangerdanger94

I think he will be alright.

Lundqvist has also proven to be a wall when the team isn't playing well.

We will see if that holds true with Mason, who while good, has been a little up and down. With injury questions as well, its a bit of a question mark.

Do think the Flyers can win the special team battle, so ensuring they try and bait the Rangers into some retaliation calls will be key imo. Flyers are at their best when they play on the line. Just going out and skating off like robots is stupid with this crew.

Honestly even if the return isnt great I would prefer Grossmann. I just dont like the idea of selling this low on L Schenn. It just doesnt seem worth it.
- FrmRusiaWifGlov

I agree. Call me crazy but I still think Schenn could reach his 1st pairing potential. He shows flashes of brilliance and is still extremely young. It's probably a long shot but it's better than dumping him for a small return.

It's good and bad........A player like Jack Eichel because he is from Boston was drafted by Halifax but they gave up trying to get him to play so traded his rights to Saint John who isn't having much luck either.

Word was he wants to play in the OHL and be able to go head to head with McDavid but in order for that to happen he'd have to be waived by every team in the Q would have to pass on his rights, this will not happen.

There is also talk that Quebec may try to convince him to play for them as they also have the right to his close friend Noah Hanifin and could try to acquire his rights & have both of them forgo their college commitments.

Going in Quebec's favor is they won the rights to host next years Memorial Cup

The Rangers will win if they're PP can capitalize cuz I expect Rinaldo and Hartnell to take some stupid penalties with borderline hits. Hopefully a couple PP goals will force you guys to ease up your edge a bit.

The stupid penalties will be there. That has been a given for years, but I do believe in a special team's battle, the Flyers can take it.

If this turns into a continuous 5 on 5 series, I do worry slightly about the Rangers speed. Its playoff time, and they need to unleash the peanuts.

Yes, he family asked the team not to draft him & wanted him to play with an OHL team closer to home.

To me, the Flyers need to figure out a way to move the puck cleanly through the neutral zone. They need to enter the Rangers zone with momentum. There were so many times where the Rangers clogged the neutral zone and the Flyers couldn't get their forecheck going. They need to get in on McDonagh and Girardi and pound them (legally).

I've said it before, I think Schenn is the type of defenseman that only gets better with age and experience. Not sure about 1st pairing potential, but I believe he will continue to get better.

Flyers have been a team that has taking penalties all year, so I would expect the Rangers to get their fair share of PP's. The Flyers need to be patient, and not lose focus if Lundqvist is frustrating them early. Over passing and giving up good shots is not going to get it done, trying to make the perfect play. They have to get the puck deep, and not turn the puck over in the NZ. Get traffic and pucks to the net, and crash the net. Flyers aren't going to get a lot of pretty goals off the rush in this Series. Need to score some dirty but good goals.

I always thought the Flyers will be lucky if he has the career of a guy like Gill, but that's just a haters thoughts.

I've been interested to see how the flyers would fare against the Rangers in 7 game series for quite a while now.

I'd love to see Mason go lights out

Possession when entering the offensive zone is key but the Rangers gap control and strong defense of standing up at the blue line has been a problem in recent Rangers games. Flyers can back up the Rangers defense better with nice soft cross corner dumps in full flight. Rather they throw a couple of different looks than constantly trying to skate across the blue line ineffectively with tons of offsides and players not up on the play enough for support.

I'm really late to the party on this thread, so this may have (probably has) already been discussed.

Gostisbehere is potentially the playmaking defensemen we've dreamed of for years; however, he is small. Really small. 165 lbs kinda small. I think he already has the talent for the professional game, but does anyone think he may be moved to wing? He played there was he was younger.

As much as we could use his talents at the blue line, I wonder if it makes sense for him to be a forward.

Isn't Rinaldo like 5 foot 10 and 170 pounds?

That's basically my build. Ghost could just be another one of those guys who has the metabolism of a freak. He will have to excel with his smarts to make it. Its where Guss falls short, being man-handled too easily. Havent seen much of Gostisbehere but have heard he has good hockey sense.

Same thing with Bodie who was signed by the Rangers.

I think his size would be an issue as a forward also. Hopefully he puts on some muscle and gains some weight.
