I doubt he's ready yet -- mentally, he MIGHT, repeat MIGHT, be able to handle sheltered minutes, though I honestly don't believe that.

But I sincerely do not believe he is capable, at 21 years of age as of this weekend, to be able to handle the pace, strength and determination of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

I just don't believe that is possible -- I watched those games this weekend. He's a very good player/prospect.

But guys like Rick Nash and Derek Stepan and Mats Zuccarello, which is likely the Rags' top line...how many points do you think they'd put up in a college game tomorrow? That's the question you never see asked.

Ghost is a very good prospect, and I'm glad he signed. But no way do I believe he's ready for what's coming on Thursday

Agreed. And the question is poignant.

Gost is going to need at least a year to season.

I still can't believe his girlfriend broke up with him because "he isn't good looking." Are 20-year-olds blind now?

I heard it was because hes struggling to get to 180.

I think a year is something that will serve him well -- the difference between the kids we saw this weekend, or even the size/strength of the older players in college, compared to the average NHL player...

It's OK that Ghost is going to need some time, and I would hope most everybody understands that it would be truly...it would be highly unusual if he didn't.

I think we're all ready to see players like Laughton, Morin, Alt, Hagg, Gost, etc. given a shot to make it with the big squad, but I also think we've been (or become) a reasonably patient fanbase (at least those of us here) and we all know there's not much of anything those above could do to help us with the Rangers.

The playoffs are upon us and this is the team we've got. And I for one have no problems with that.

But next season's training camp - forgetting the added dimensions of the draft and trades - is going to be interesting.

I'm a big a fan of Ghost as anybody on here, and even I admit that he'd have a hard time being better than Erik Gustafsson off the hop, much less Kimmo Freakin' Timonen, who is still the Flyers best two-way dman at this late age, and it's not even close.

Buffalo not getting the 1st overall pick is why I find tanking purposefully stupid. No guarantee you get the best pick.

I'm sure the NHL is somewhat sad at the thought of a talent like Ekblad being lost in a hockey cesspool like Florida. And I don't mean the team itself, they could actually be good, but the fanbase, interest, etc.

That team shouldn't even be there.

It is sad that he went to Florida with that pathetic fan base. I can never believe how few people are in the lower bowl seats when the FLyers play them??

Immaterial if he is ready or not, because he is intelligible to play.

Had he signed on Sunday, he would have been able to play in the playoffs, but since he signed after the regular season ended, he can't play for the Flyers until next season.

He'll play a couple games for the Phantoms on an ATO, and his new contract starts next season.

I am ok with that really. I think it would be a crazy stretch for the kid to go from frozen four to NHL playoff action even if we had a ton of injuries. I personally don't think we are that desperate with Gus and Gill able to come in.

He looks like a solid prospect, but no neeto rush him.. play a couple AHL games and see how he does next camp.

Which is totally fine by me; I honestly hadn't paid too much to the debate of his eligibility once I realized that it appeared that it was unclear who knew his status exactly.

I am glad he isn't eligible, to be honest; eliminates temptation for a shortsighted move. Hopefully, he'll use the summer well and have a good camp in the fall.

If he makes the team legitimately, I obviously would support that -- players shouldn't be punished for legitimately making the team. But if he doesn't, I have absolutely zero issues or concerns with him being in the AHL.

My wife's all about the Gostisbehere. Then again, she said he reminds her of me, "especially with the big nose."

You read that somewhere?
- wolfhounds

Overheard it from one of the Union guys (all former players) in the suite I was in Saturday night. He was so nonplussed that she'd not go after the money. which was pretty disgusting, actually. Translates as, "Gee, why is she not willing to sell herself?"
