The red ones are much more dangerous. I cross aisles before walking past them.

I'd say they played bigger roles than just being complimentary players. Simmonds and Voracek have never scored more than 30 goals, although Simmonds has come close twice. Carter has scored over 30 goals 3 times, with 1 of those seasons being a 40 goal season, and had a few seasons where he came real close to 30. Richards had a crappy year this year but he scored 30 goals for you guys a couple times and came close with 28 another year. I'm not sure Simmonds or Voracek are as good now as Carter and Richards were for you guys.
- rangerdanger94

Simmonds is already a better player than the declining Richards, Voracek and Carter are a wash, and you aren't even mentioning the best player the Flyers got in those trades, Sean Couturier. Or Brayden Schenn. Or Grossmann.

even the PPG production favors the flyers, with just those two dudes.

Richards: 204 GP, 41 G, 76 A, 117 P - .57 ppg
Carter: 136 GP, 59 G, 33 A, 92 P - .68 ppg
Voracek: 208 GP, 63 G, 94 A, 157 P - .75 ppg
Simmonds: 209 GP, 72 G, 69 A, 141 P - .67 ppg

add in the fact that Coots is relied on to shut down top lines and Schenn has scored 20 goals this year. i'm not sure how anyone really considers the swapping of those two players and the flyers getting those 4+ being anything than a huge victory for a Flyers team needing to re-gear.

honestly the only team that I think didn't make out very well was Columbus in the inital deals.

For some reason I can see Ghost getting in the lineup if Streit were to go down. Could put him with Grossmann or Schenn. This is how Krug got into the lineup and he is not much different then Ghost.

Downie has been struggling since Christmas and the Flyers wait until the 82nd game to give Akseon a shot on the 3rd line. Better late than never, I guess.

teams will have less information about his style of play and tendencies also which is an advantage

Why couldnt holmer pull off a better deal than that? They paid him exactly what he'd get if he'd hit the market.

It's not awful if there is no NMC, but you know there some kind of NTC

- Just5

Because there is no reason for the player to take a discounted deal. Yes, they paid himwhat he'd have gotten on the market -- but that's also assuming the price wouldn't go even a little higher than that with multiple bidders where it would be a Matt Carle situation all over again if the Flyers didn't act early.

Except the Bruins are a beast of a team and have much better players to surround Krug.

Whew, where to start?

On Mason: I think they are just being cautious. I have no doubt he is starting game one.

On Grossmann: Like Timonen, the dude is a warrior. He'll have to lose a limb before he misses a playoff game.

On Ghost: You can come down off the bridge now folks!

On MacDonald: Totally cool with it, you weren't going to find anyone better at a better price on the open market. And you would have been forced to significantly overpay in a trade for a similar or better dman.

On Downie: I'd kinda be surprised if you see him play another game in a Flyers uniform.

And finally, on the playoffs:
GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!

Yes they were but sometimes you have to do something a little off the book. But if I had to choose gus or ghost i might choose ghost. i know what gus brings. Ghost is a little wildcard
