I just want to see a hard fought series by the Flyers. I really feel like the rangers are in the flyers head much like the flyers are in the penguins head. The Flyers tend to make this team look so good and often play into their hands.
Hate to say it but Rangers in 6 - Just5
Flyers v Rangers this year is 2-2. Each team winning both games at home. Just a reality check. And having lost 8 in a row in MSG would matter more if the same players and coaches lost to the same players and coaches. But they didn't. |

I can't wait for tomorrow night. As we wait I was thinking about the future and the backend. I think AMAC, Coby and one of Grossmann/Schenn are definates next year. I think Alt will get a long look as he is a good skating dman with size. Also think there could be a low risk move on a dman like del zotto if he doesn't get a qualifying offer from NSH. I think the ship on Gustaffson has saild since Ghost is signed. Can do pretty much the same but better. Laurdison i see more of a 7th damn. But never know with homer. Could pull out the good old offer sheet and go after PK Subban since cap is going up. - J35Bacher
I think if Grossman were to get moved out in a trade, the flyers would be taking salary back. |

Keep in mind, those 8 losses are stretched out over 2 years with months between the games. Now, there will be days separating them against the same team. Much different scenario. |

I don't think so. No matter how much some people on here hate him, he's still viewed as a good shutdown 3rd pair defenseman league-wide.
I'd hate to think how this board would react had we signed Johnny Boychuk and had to watch him every night (i.e. the grass isn't always greener.). |

This should be an interesting series. The Flyers have to find a way to solve Hank. He is the difference maker, without him I don't think the Rags would beat the Flyers. Rinaldo will have to be very careful after his suspension, but he will need to play tough. G and Mason, if he plays, will need to step up for the team. - LJF
The Rangers have scored first in each of the last 8 Flyer losses at MSG.
Scoring first is key in my opinion. The Rags are the " favoured" team, they have more pressure. Let's get that first one and get them off their game. |

They're the higher seed, and should be favored. However, this is one of 3 series that I literally think is completely up for grabs (LA-SJ and StL-Chi the others). Flyers will definitely need a few breaks to go their way, starting with Mason being healthy and playing at his best. |

I still see a lot of similarities from previous Ranger/Flyer battles over the last couple years. Rangers have the better in the 5 vs 5 play. If the refs swallow their whistles, which is likely in the playoffs. The Flyers are in trouble. Rinaldo is a big key here. He has to mix it up and play on the edge. I dont care if he takes one or two penalties early as long as he's getting some retaliation. Its critical for the flyers to be pests and get into some after the whistle stuff
I am glad that the Flyers finally are getting some decent practice time for their PP units. |

It's the playoffs. It's not supposed to be easy, and it's supposed to be a challenge. - MJL

I am not advocating them moving Grossmann or Schenn. I kind of like having those two thumpers on D. If you keep both and sign someone and bring up alt or Ghost maybe you spend money on a winger like Hemsky or make a play for some other sniper.

Garth was playing NHL 14 in GM mode to see what trades he can score. |

I never got why people like Hemsky so much. He's fairly soft (despite what Oilers fans say) and he's a one-dimensional player, from what little I've seen.
I also don't get why people think the Flyers need a sniper. They scored at a very good pace this year (outside of the first 15 games) and have a wide variety of scoring options. No need to overpay for a "sniper" when we have ample goal scoring in place on a fairly young team. |

Pulock and Reinhart for Grossmann. Grossmann's a really desirable player in NHL 14. |

Hemsky is the opposite of a sniper. He's a good guy to have if your team needs offense and help on the PP. He's really the last guy the Flyers should be spending money on. If you think G and Jake pass up too many shots, you don't want to see Hemsky. |

I'm guessing it's at least one of the following:
- His CORSI sucks
- He's a 5th defenseman
- Chara makes less money
- He's not good at all
- I hate every move that the organization makes. They're always wrong. - jmatchett383
It's what comes from a certain element of the fanbase. The Flyers defense is not good enough. The GM did a bad job building the defense, and should be fired. GM acquires a defenseman that significantly upgrades the defense. Then when that player is re-signed. Oh I hate the deal, and the GM did a bad job with that. It's a lose-lose from that perspective. |

Really, we should be concerned -- the Rags are good. Not respecting them is foolish -- they have talent, they have a good defense, they have a good goalie, and their coach is no idiot -- he was just in a Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals three years ago. - AllInForFlyers
All of the above is true and I certainly respect the Rangers.
However, they are not the 76-77 Canadiens, 87-88 Oilers or even the 13-14 Bruins. If the Flyers play to the best of their ability there is absolutely no reason why they cannot beat the Rangers.
And, as always, may I close with:
GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
RANGERS SUCK!!!!!!!!!! |

I think that there are several keys to the series for the Flyers:
1) penalties: dumb, and needless
2) passing: behind the back, no look, etc..
3) coby: he seems to be a north/south kind of player, if you get him moving sideways, he panics and coughs up the puck
4) kimo: can he go the distance
5) defensive play by the forwards
6) patience: the players get frustrated easily
7) 60 minutes of play
I'm just saying.... Your thoughts?
Thanks. - OrangeAndBlack1
1) agreed
2) I'm ok with these in the right place on the ice. However they are a complete no-no in the defensive zone, neutral zone and high in the offensive zone. Down low in the offensive zone you use whatever you feel will get you the best scoring opportunity.
3) It's more important to me that Coburn ramps up his physical game.
4) Not worried at all bout Kimmo
5) agreed
6) agreed
7) agreed, an absolute must in any playoff game. |
