I'll tell you that I have a horrendous feeling about this series.
Remember though I said Columbus and Detroit would make the playoffs and the Flyers wouldn't. - mayorofangrytown
it could be ugly. i pray it isn't. |

Yeah not likely ... They might tweak things a bit during the game if the current system isn't working, but until then they will do what they normally do! - Cable2k
They're going to change a breakout here or there, from a side breakout to a center breakout. Or use more reverses based on an opposition forecheck. But this is stuff they used all year. Hockey games, especially in the playoffs come down to execution, and puck battles. And who outplays who. I've said it many times, systems and strategy's don't win or lose games. Players do. |

That's kind of what I feel b if we had mase on top of his game I'd say I'd be surprised if they weren't close games. |

It's all on Giroux. I hate to say it but if he plays 20 games with the switch on this team can win it all. "Can" He doesn't show or the other team finds a way to quiet him and we're fried. |

And yes, he's as smug as all poop. But there's no rule against it. Yet. The worst thing you could do to him is ignore him. You do realize that, don't you? And yes, we all want the damned button. - bodiva88
There was nothing smug in any comment I made. I gave my opinion on what I think the game plan is going to be. And the content of my post was all Hockey. The replies, not so much.

i worry about a quick barrage by the rangers and them being down early...like they're not ready to play, and i worry about the flyers jamming away and almost scoring 25 times and the rangers come down the ice once with a simple break out pass play and they score on a bad angle from the boards with no effort at all and/or some other bullpoop from behind the net and a ranger waltzes in unmarked and pops one upstairs from the slot with emery looking like a slug. that will send me into a blind fury. |

We all know emery is giving up at least 4 tonight. The question is can we score 5? |

So basically you are worried it will go just like the last 8 reg season games? I agree. And if it does I'll be crying In My beer. |

uhhh...yeah, pretty much.
i worry more about the latter than the former. it's not like the rangers are the penguins and have a ton of fire power.
i can't have MSL winning another series against us. |

This is the problem around here (and if this gets me a ban, fine...I don't post that much anymore anyway): too many warnings, not enough just dropping the hammer. A few surprise time-outs and some people might rethink their posting habits and hissy fits.
And before someone asks, no, I don't want the job. I was offered a spot in the past, and I have too short a fuse. I'd end up getting PMs out the wazoo like another guy did when he took no prisoners for a short time a long time ago.
Enjoy game 1 folks. Should be a good time.

I'm going to be ready to switch to another game if the Rangers score first. I'll come back for the next puck drop but I won't want to. |

in looking at the numbers comparison in bill's blog, it appears the teams are very close across the board except one area - goal differential in the 3rd period.
flyers are a +5: 90/85
rangers are + 18: 74/56
this worries me. flyers score a lot and give up a lot here. for as many games as they've come from behind and won in the 3rd, they've also lost a lot of game in regulation (don't know the numbers) going into the 3rd tied.
the rangers tighten it up when it matters.

Good luck guys, hopefully we get a series that lives up to the hype. |

And it was a really bad trend down the stretch. I think the Flyers gave up 12 goals in the 3rd period in the last 5 games. That has to stop.

Craig Berube visited my work today. He told me that he intends to lure the Rangers into a false sense of security by having the entire team tied together with a rope to inhibit their mobility. Next, he intends to have his team untied, but with their backs turned the to the play, and forced to use reflections off of the glass in order to play. Lastly, he will remove the skate blades from his players, forcing them to run on the ice, and then
BAM!!! Full-on bench-clearing brawl. - jmatchett383
i dont know why this reminded me of the allegory of the cave |

We will see quickly how healthy McDonagh is, and while not as critical as Mason, really wish Kreider was healthy, his size and speed would be huge in this series. |

Yeah I know McDonagh is banged up a bit but mase is critical. 6 or 7 games IMO. I hope it happens but I will be pleasantly surprised if Philly wins this. |
