this is a good point...
as ticked off as i am at all the slashing etc that went uncalled earlier only to turn into whatever the (frank) that was
can berube adjust
he/they better - -davies-
In my opinion.
I don't see it as the coaches having to adjust. The players are the ones that have to adjust. This loss mirrors a lot of Flyers losses this season. Not matching the intensity of the opposition. Flat footed and late to the puck. Losing all the races to lose pucks. Not generating much offense. Compounded by bad penalties. A lot of losses for the Flyers look the same.
At least now they know what they have to do. And they have to know that effort isn't going to get it done. Starting with the Captain.

The way to beat the Rangers is to dump it in and put their dmen through the glass. Berube needs to watch film of how the Flyers played under Keenan. Put pressure on them, make them pay for every inch of the ice.
Dammit guys, don't try to adjust to them, FORCE THEM TO ADJUST TO YOU!!!
At the end of the day, the team that wins the one on one battles, that never quits and wants it more is gonna win!

To be fair, they had decent first and second periods. What really hurt them was not taking advantage of the third period powerplay, and then subsequently getting a call for high-sticking for four minutes. That's just deflating.
Listen, even if they lose Game 2--the Flyers have always made it a series once their home. I have a feeling this game was a lot about nerves than anything else.
The Rangers will make mistakes too. They are bound to because they are human. The Flyers just have to force those mistakes and capitalize on them.
Remember, this team started out 1-7. They know how to fight back. It might not be right away, or the next game, but you never count out the Philadelphia Flyers. - KGBflyers10
I think they need to win game 2 if they want any chance of winning the series. I don't see them beating the Rags 4 out of 5 games. |

Did zac play tonight? I fully expected him to set a hitting tone tonight. I didn't see him hit anyone all night - Sms401
Chief didn't play the fourth line much tonight; Rinaldo was out there but wasn't noticeable, either way

yeah, people don't actually say that here. lived here for quite some time and never heard anyone say that. you're going off on a weird tangent but i assume it's because you're as irritated as i am at the game. - -davies-

If your assessment of that 2nd period was decent.....I'm not sure what to make of that. |

The Flyers were lucky to even be in this game after 2 periods. They went into the locker room during the 2nd intermission and said that is it for the night. |

Ummmmm he did not play in the previous game in MSG. Which was pretty much like the last 30 mins of this game. - PT21
true ... but he also didn't play in the games the Flyers won vs the Rangers in Philly.
I just don't like the idea of putting a guy in there who wasn't really a part of the team all year. That whole line looked out of sorts. |

yep 1-7....but they don't have 82 games to figure this out .....the flyers have to win 1 game in MSG and they cant even get 20 shots.... they have 2 days to figure this out or as someone earlier said....this will be a short series |

No kidding.
It's a clunker. It sucked and it's a playoff game, but this is where you take the 3 days off, you make some adjustments where they need to be made, you get pissed off, and you chase this team into Philadelphia for games 3 and 4.
So here we go. Take 2 on Easter Sundee. Can't wait. |

For all the knocks on Giroux and the rest of the forwards, what are the d-men going to do about losing races continuously or not being able to initiate a transition game either through passing or skating it out?

Just because a team is defensive it's no excuse not to skate....why do the Flyers change who they are against the Rangers ? Someone mentioned earlier that Berube will have to adjust.....because regardless of final score .....15 shots in a game ....1 shot in the third period ....not sure you ever win a game with those stats.... |

Gill IS certainly slow ... but one thing he does pretty well is make quick decisions with the puck. Grossmann seems to hang onto it an hour too long. - FlyerGuy
Grossman was terrible.
Coots was ok. Played 20 minutes tonight. Voracek looked the most dangerous through out the night. Finished with 14 minutes. Akeson the rookie finished with 13.
Rinaldo 7:50
Vinny 7:42
Top 2 Ice Time Getters
MacD - 22:15
Grossman - 20:44
Giroux, Streit, Voracek, and Vinny combined for 0 shots.
I'd laugh.. but I want to cry.
They give us hope they can play awesome. Then decide to play like complete poop and (frank) their fans in the ass.
It's what they always do.

I'm with you on that; it's tough to get moving forward when the d-men are struggling with puck retrieval and first passes
This loss was just like every other bad loss they have; they just have to find a way to move the puck more quickly out of their zone

chip it in when you hit the red line, or the forwards have to loop back to keep moving and open up passing lanes. cant forecheck standing still and it causes tons of giveaways when they had full possession - dillpx183
It sure did. Way too indecisive tonight. Nerves, maybe? I don't buy into the notion, they can't beat this team. Relying solely on passing to stationary winger along the half boards in the defensive zone to gain speed and attack, then yes they ill lose to this team. |
