You know...this isn't necessarily 100% in jest. It really could happen. - jmatchett383
Half sarcasm, half wishful thinking. I'm hoping Coots defensive prowess and Reads solid all around play can compensate for Jasons lack of foot speed and questionable defensive play, if that happens Akeson has enough skill to make this line a scoring threat. I'm pretty close to Glens Falls so i tried to catch as many phantoms games as I could, and he can do some damage offensively. |

There went all the suspense of the series. No point watching now. |

I was (surprisingly) impressed with how slow he did NOT look in that game. Definitely no slower than Downie.
My only concern with Akeson is that, against Carolina's defense, he was being tossed around like a rag doll in the corners. If this line is expected to be a down-low, hard-working, cycling line, he may have a hard time against a defense like the Rangers. |

My 2 year old watches despicable me 1 & 2 all day long.
He cries when I put hockey on. I still do it. Teaching him alpha male stuff |

He misspelled "Blue Jackets." He got confused because they finally completed swapping rosters 2 years ago. |

I tried to give him every break I could, but unless (until) a forward goes down with an injury, or they need to shake things up, I'm fine with him not being in the lineup. - jmatchett383
I've been rooting for Downie all year long to get to his pre-concussion form.
This has just been a lost season for him. I don't think he's earned that lineup spot at this point. |

I have no issues with Akeson playing, but I don't understand why he only saw one NHL game this year if he was going to dress in the playoffs. The Flyers obviously knew Downie wasn't a viable option a while ago. - PLindbergh31
I think this is a fairly recent decison, and not something they anticipated. They were hoping Downie would get right. |

seemed like they were hoping downie could/would return, he came back for that one game and played like he still had brain damage unfortunately
i know a lot of you all can't stand him but i'd love for him to be back on that line for the POs - -davies-
A heallthy and right Steve Downie is exactly the kind of player you need in the playoffs. Unfortunately, he's not that player right now, and hasn't been for a while. |

Very true. Having a truly healthy Downie would have been great.
If the Flyers play as a team and keep their feet moving they win this series. |

I agree. All you have to do is watch the puck battles. See who is winning them, and what team is being outnumbered on the puck. And healthy Downie would help in that area. |

Maybe they wanted him getting consistent ice time and usage in scoring situations. Young players are often stayed in favor of more proven commodities in tough games and situations, and the Flyers have been fighting for their playoffs spot for most of the season. I guess they felt being "the guy" with the Phantoms was more fruitful than being a spectator to the Giroux line doing the crucial work on the Flyers. |

Hopefully the struggles from the early part of the season will help motivate this team. This years Flyers have two different teams, the team we saw most of the first half of the season and the team from the second. Hopefully the second half team shows up. We all talk about as G goes so does the rest of the team, but I'd say to maybe a lesser extent same with Hartnell. If he starts taking stupid penalties and playing indisciplined hockey it means the team is frustrated.
Let's Go Flyers!!! |

Downie has been struggling terribly since Christmas, but the Flyers waited until April 13th to give Akseon a game The management in Philly just aren't that smart sometimes. |
