Kind of cute the opinion thing started with a threat of being banned. As we all know its so genuine

For me, I'll agree to disagree. Player management, in terms of icetime was a issue in this one for me. Your best players should play the most minutes.

That Flyer back end is not even in its talent spread, they shouldn't be played as such. Kind of sad LeCavalier playing 7 minutes total. Smelling a bit like bust.

- flyer_nutter

In my opinion.

I wasn't threatened with a ban. Those who were making personal remarks were.

The playoffs are a 7 game series. One game doesn't determine what a player is. And this tactic is not going to work.

When you have a banged up 38 year old top defenseman, and the game is pretty much over. Smart decision to cut his ice time and save him for the next game.

how did the best player in the world do tonight?
- SuperHenderson13

Oh, goodie -- saved me the trouble of coming over to your thread.

Saw The Sieve gave up three goals AGAIN last night, this time to a franchise that has never won a postseason game...nice to see that he's on his game at being the sieve we all know he is

The other issue I have is giving Coots 20 minutes of ice time. Giroux should be getting 20 minutes of ice time.

Although to be fair.. Coots had 5:25 in PK time. Coots also finished at 29% in the faceoff circle.

WAY too low.

- Flyersgod

I'd be in with this. I know Giroux isn't the preferred choice on the PK to try and give him a rest but he wasn't played enough.

Same with Voracek. No knock on Akeson, but just because that Couturier line is out is no excuse for him to get one less minute than Voracek.

The best players for me tonight, did not play as much as they should have.

Anyway off for the night hooligans. Goodnight and good hockey.

Hard to say he's a bust because the Coach refuses to play him. That smell of a bust would be coming from the Schenn brothers.

In my opinion

Couturier was a much better player then Giroux was tonight. Which is why he played more.

He was the better player for sure. That isn't why he played more. He played more because of the SH time in the 3rd period.

Maybe do a line of Voracek/Coots/Giroux... if they're going to play Coots 20 minutes a night, give him some damn wingers!

The best players didn't play as much as they should've, because they weren't the best players in the game.

With the way the Flyers played, I don't think any Coach changes the outcome. That game wasn't about Coaching.

True to a degree....but Berube has to be better as well.....there are things he can do that can give them a better chance to compete.

Kimmo was dinged up early in the game.
That played a big part of his ice time.

- Marc D

That, and until the third, most of the game was played 5 on 5, and Berube pays strict attention to Kimmo's ice time at 5 on 5. In fact, during the regular season, Timonen has the lowest TOI of any Flyer defenseman.

He averaged 13:30 per game at even strength. Luke Schenn was next lowest at 14:24. Even Gustafsson & Meszaros saw more average ES TOI than Kimmo.

I just want to recap.

1) your goalie gave up 3 goals in the third period. ours gave up 3 in the whole game.
2) the franchise that has never won a postseason game... still has never won a postseason game.
3) your captain didn't have one shot and took a slashing penalty after his team was losing like a little girl.

for whatever reason some of you decided to come over to our board after we won, so I just wanted to stop and say hi.

In my opinion

You're right, that is a big part of it. But they played the same amount at ES. And Giroux normally plays more then that at ES. And the PK time also contributed to that.

It gives that 1st wave of forecheckers more time and that kills you, unless you have a defenseman that can really skate the puck out of trouble.
- Jsaquella

Yeah -- that and settling that second line are the next two things Homer has to address for the franchise

Why all this Couts praise?

1. He lost Zuccarello on 1st goal.
2. He should have got a better sog on goal in that play from close when Read passed to him from behind the net (2nd period)
3. Got undressed by McDonagh when on the pk for the 3rd goal.

It's quite simple why the third line received the most ice time....they were far and away the most effective line the Flyers had.

in all fairness, fleury actually was more good than bad last night, by a pretty wide margin. regardless of the score, the BJs smacked the poop out of the pens last night.

its one game for you guys though. i dont think many people legitimately thought you were going to sweep the first two up there. i genuinely feel bad for akeson though. im glad a lot of people on here realize that it was just a fluky thing and that he didnt single handedly cost the team the game. i thought he was actually pretty decent.
