Berube said that VandeVelde "could" play on Sunday, not that he is in for sure.

Good thing I didn't say "physically make hits" at the blueline.

Because we all know what out and out hitting machines Kimmo Timonen & Braydon Coburn are. I'm talking about simply stepping up and challenging at the blue line, and fore opposing players to either dump the puck in and chase it or force them to have to get around the defenseman, rather than simply skate into the zone.

Nice attempt to change the wording and to make it sound as if I'm using the stats, because I'm not. It's a comment based on watching the games, and seeing that Timonen and Coburn are far more active at challenging opposing players at the Flyers blueline than MacDonald, Streit, Grossmann or Schenn.

AMac is pretty good at dropping back into the proper position
he may yield the blue line but he often blocks the shot or breaks up the pass inside the zone

He'll match asking price of 4.5-5M. I'm still not sure he goes in that direction. I really don't know what his plan is for this offseason.

My ideal offseason would be:

Move Vinny
Sign Jagr

Move Grossmann or Schenn
Sign Stralman

Try and convince Kimmo to come back and hope he takes less money. Maybe he comes back a couple weeks into the season and the Flyers give Morin the 9 game tryout.

Cmon man......we all know where this is going to end up. I'd rather watch maybe our only ray of hope that could put the fear of god in these tight checking teams that swallow the flyers breakouts.

I'm not giving up on this series ... the Flyers beat the Rangers twice here, so it CAN be done. They just gotta figure out how to win one at MSG.

One thing about Berube, he's not afraid of either line changes or lineup changes. So that will help, imo.

a few weeks ago I was 100% in favor of resigning kimmo if he wanted to play another year

rethinking this now, maybe best to move on

If he could play zone entries better, he can be a very good defenseman. Its really the one thing holding him back. He has the mobility and stick play in order to get better in that area. I just hope the Flyers recognize it and help him.

No one said he's Weber, but he's very solid, not spectacular, but very steady.

Yep. He doesn't need to be putting guys through walls, just interrupt the flow a bit more often. I don't want him doing it too aggressively or every damned play, just be a but more assertive at the blue line.
