Erik Marsh: GAME DAY: Game 1 Wings @ Bruins
The Red Wings will finally faceoff against the Bruins tonight at 7:30 in Boston. The two original six teams are the last to show up to the dance as all the other teams already have a game under their belts. In the lead-up to tonight’s game most analysts have already got Boston pegged to win the series, some are even calling it the easiest series to predict. While it’s certainly easy to point out the Bruins’ strong points, after all it wasn’t by accident that they finished the season with the leagues best record, to say that beating the Wings will be a walk in the park would be wildly off base. |

The harder the playoff opponent, the better the Wings play it seems. Last two years: Preds raped the Wings, sending Lidstrom into his retirement on a low note. Last year, took two high seeded teams to the limits, breaking one. |

Nice win guys! - NYI44
D was very good.
Jimmy was solid. Couple of nice bounces.
Boston looked a little tight. |

That move at center ice by Datsyuk was amazing. It's huge because now the kids know they're not alone when it comes to offense. Less pressure = better performance. |

Congrats Wings fans, I think Detroit played better for the most of the game even though the shot total was very close. Pretty rare that the B's get shutout, between Howard and the team defense I was impressed.
It goes without saying that Datsyuk is just on another level than everyone else. |

I've been a Wings fan for decades, seen a lot of great players play with the Wings. I don't think I've enjoyed watching a single player play more than Pavel. He is fun to watch. Ya never know what he is going to do.
One game down. On to Sunday |

One of the prettiest goals he's ever scored, and that's saying something. Keep it rolling!

I think one, but at most he will get a fine. I hate that guy. |

That was beyond douchebag. If he doesn't get at least a game it will just be one more in the long list of bullsh1t the Bruins have got away with. I sometimes wonder if they would have any cups at all if they didn't somehow play under different rules than the rest of the league.

Karma's a beotch. At some point I hope a Red Wing player administers a little pay back. That was as cheap as they come. Definitely crosses a line. |

I'm a little amazed at the mental toughness regarding that play. He gets caught and basically you put your team in the hole. It screams of frustration since DeKyster is the farthest thing from an abrasive defenseman.
I say a fine. Weber took Zetterberg's head in his hand and smashed it into the glass and got nothing a couple years back. He just took a step back with regards in respect in non-Bruin fans around the world and North America that's all. |

On Sportsnet connected, the were talking about Perry's little jab at Benn tonight and how it might be suspendable and they hardly even mentioned the Lucic nut-shot which was 10 times worse, and from behind. Huge piss off. |

That's a tough one. Federov was one of the first players as a fan that held that title for me. Fan since '74. Those two have got to be 1 and 2.

Meh. Don't worry. Kenny Holland has already been on the phone. Melan will at the very least be watched very closely for the rest of the series. |

One of my first thoughts was Lidstrom needing testicle surgery during the playoffs due to Sharp- and how the Wings cant lose DeKyser. But the Weber WWE move still leaves me astounded that he didn't even get a game- considering the so called head shot crackdown. |
