He took a 4 minute penalty in the 3rd period of a tie playoff game, my apologies for not wanting to give him a break on it. - Flyersgod
amen. regardless of how poorly they played it was 1-1 w/ 10 min left. i think this is an organ-ize-ational (henceforth "the O) problem and here is why: i think that a certain "brand" of hockey is taught and encouraged throughout this "O" that players learn is the fastest way to succeed; not that other skills are not valued or taught, but physical play gets you noticed (and promoted) more here, imo. akeson's idea is to finish a great shift by throwing a hard check. never mind he is chasing the guy and totally out of position to do so.
did he lose the game? no. did his action bring about THE pivotal sequence in the game? no doubt |

Wish they'd just tell us what's wrong. - Flyersgod
I'm really worried that this may be a short series. Emery was fine Thursday but I was hoping mase could play Sunday as he's got better lateral movement. Regardless, if berube doesn't figure out some adjustments to generate more shots, it won't matter who's in net. |

Carter deal happened an hour before the Richards deal. They were gonna trade 'em both. |

You should be worried. While Emery wasn't THE problem... He won't be a savior and our team respects the rangers wayyyy too much in NY. We treat them like the 85 Oilers. It's so sad to watch. |

I hope ur wrong but so far, things just don't seem to be going our way. If we can't win tomorrow, I'd say its probably over in 5. |

It sucks for Mason. He's been proving people wrong all year with strong to stellar play and now with a chance to really make people notice, he's out.
I do feel Mason is a better option than Emery. Both statistically and from watching, Mason is superior and definitely has better lateral movement & puck handling skills. That said, Emery isn't why they lost game one and if they play the same way they did Thursday on Sunday, he won't be why they lose game two.
But you have to play who is available. Mason is not, so it falls to Emery. |

What I don't get is why we play the Rangers so much differently at home than on the road. What's the big difference? Last change? Crowd? Not that much of a difference if you ask me. |

do you think any of us will live long enough to see the star goalie on the other team get injured 5 minutes before the playoffs start? |

Oh, yeah, when the Carter trade went down, it was like WOW...and then the Richards deal happened and it was like HOLY (frank)ING poop!!
but looking back and hearing some of the stories that came out of it, Holmgren was shopping both.
One rumor was that while talking to the Jackets, he asked Howson if he "...wanted 'em both"...the rumor attached to that was Carter, Richards and another guy(depth guy/prospect) for Voracek, Ryan Johansen, Steve Mason & 2 1st rounders
Not sure of the truth there, but it was prior to the Bryzgalov trade/signing, but the story goes that Howson only said no because of Johansen. |

i went to that 3/1 matinee and although the flyers won, the rags were the better team for 1/2 that game. hit the post a couple times and missed a wide open net two other times..... |

My thought on that is it has a lot to do with the last change. Berube can get his match ups the way he wants them. Vigneault is getting the right players out to completely shut down giroux etc. I think that's the real issue. I wonder if it would be worth considering switching the lines up to start getting some better match ups. |

I've heard it with him and without him. One of the discussed Carter deals included him, but fell through. |

I think it's time to end the Schenn experiment. Not good enough for 2nd line. Time to give Vinny his shot. What's to lose???? |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Key Adjustments for Game 2, Quick Hits - bmeltzer
I did notice one thing in terms of our defensemen especially Timonen is that they were fundamentally turning wrong. When a player chips the puck past you, you are suppose to turn with the opposing player to keep your eyes on them at all times. On many occasions especially with Timonen, I saw him make the opposite turn and take his eyes off player. |

Im more on the side of ending the Luke Schenn experiment. Would rather just see Guss, or one of the AHL kids next year.
Luke bothers me a lot more than Brayden. |
