Oh, yeah, when the Carter trade went down, it was like WOW...and then the Richards deal happened and it was like HOLY (frank)ING poop!!
but looking back and hearing some of the stories that came out of it, Holmgren was shopping both.
One rumor was that while talking to the Jackets, he asked Howson if he "...wanted 'em both"...the rumor attached to that was Carter, Richards and another guy(depth guy/prospect) for Voracek, Ryan Johansen, Steve Mason & 2 1st rounders
Not sure of the truth there, but it was prior to the Bryzgalov trade/signing, but the story goes that Howson only said no because of Johansen. - Jsaquella

Im more on the side of ending the Luke Schenn experiment. Would rather just see Guss, or one of the AHL kids next year.
Luke bothers me a lot more than Brayden. - flyer_nutter
Need goals. B. Schenn is the most average player I've ever seen. No redeeming qualities. |

Emery will start; Mason shooting for Tues.

Mason admits Something wrong at end of practice. Looked tired but it was something more.

Mason said this is not a setback, but "all part of the process." He didn't look right on the ice during practice today. - opeth_pa

Haha he does have 20 goals on the year, while being tossed around the line-up more than a back lane hooker.
All just to make room for the golden boy signing of the summer. |

More than disappointing. That just wrote game 2 off IMO. We need a goalie to steal a game in MSG. The team plays flat there. It's ridiculous. |

Don't forget Vinny led the team in goals before he was injured. Then make him play LW for the 1st time in his life. |

I understand protecting yourself but I do not agree with treating the Rangers as some freakish high powered offensive team. They are not, and shouldn't be played as such.
Berube has the leash a little too tight imo. |

I think it's time to end the Schenn experiment. Not good enough for 2nd line. Time to give Vinny his shot. What's to lose???? - GOA88

this is an awful match up for them
good learning experience for the younger guys

They do. For all his faults, Howson gave Kekalinen a good foundation to build on |

He was the best forward pre injury definitely. Since then, has been on most nights irrelevant or hurting them with losing face-offs or continuously being behind the play.
He is playing so few minutes for a reason in my eyes. |

Jackets are a fun team to watch, Johansen, Bobrovsky, Dubinsky, Wisniewski, once Horton gets healthy, even tougher. |

We play different with Mase in the pipes. We guard Emery with our life. Just like with Bryz. There's no trust there. I had flyers in 6 with Mason. Rangers in 5 with Emery. |

Replace Luke with Grossmann and I would agree.
At least L. Schenn can play physical , not sure what NG does other than move around the rink slow and block shots.

I say trade B.Schenn after the season. I've seen enough. Let's get some defense! |

If there's enough $$$ to sign someone like Niskanen they may not have to trade an asset, maybe just to purge a salary, (unless Kimo does retire). |

Grossmann has had a rough year no doubt, but is playing banged up. Streit isn't the best guy in his own end so that isn't going to help things.
I understand comparing one to the other, and I would really have no issue with neither on the team next year. There is nothing that says you have to be poop slow and not able to handle the puck to be physical.
To me, those kind of players are going to be dinosaurs, and are already moving down the depth charts of most teams toward bottom pairing guys. As is, both have been far too notice-able. I am also a big Grossmann fan. |

I see it happening, but if they trade bSchenn after tossing him back and forth between center and wing all year to just make LeCavalier happy, all while keeping Vinny for another year that's kind of a joke if you ask me.
They really need more mobility and guys that can handle the puck on that back end. I see bSchenn being used for that, but that's not to say such players have to automatically be bad in their own zone.
There is no need for one dimensional guys. That just leads to what we have now. |

Brayden Schenn is not an asset?
Luke's cost was a 30 goal scorer.
I think they are both assets, he's on the 3rd line obviously for balance. |

seriously?
Grossmann's best asset is him being physical
When he takes a forward into the boards they stay pasted to the boards

And if (frank)ing Luke wasn't 'the guy' they got back from the JVR trade I really doubt he would be looked at with such 'promise'.
