Seriously, we could have had over 10 power plays in that game, Neal takes a cheapshot every shift alone. - puckhead17
crysby would have been poopting yellow in that game if pronger was still playing |

More, absolutely, more. We'll never know for sure but I'm guessing Poile's asking price was somewhere along the lines of Couturier, both Schenns, Coburn and 2 firsts. Remember in Poile's eyes, he has to replace Weber and Suter, so he is not taking less than 2 NHL caliber dmen back in the deal and he's going to want both top prospects and picks as well. - BiggE
it's not homer's problem he has to replace both weber and suter you can't even ask for something like that
poile is a joke that never won anything and overrates his players |

That's a Lindros type package.
I do agree Poile would want 2 D men back, actually, knowing him, he may want 4 D men back and 2/4th line forwards |

My thoughts are line juggling is not going to be necessary because the Flyers are going to win tomorrow. - MJL
Its not just a game, not just a season, but the entire direction of the team, I think. The 2 last games in MSG they lost largely the same way they lost to NJ 2 years ago. If they go out in 5, the evidence for statements like "the team is going in the right direction" and "bright future" etc, will be, shall we say, scant... |

I agree, however Poile can ask for whatever he wanted, he had complete control of the situation. I don't think for a second that Nashville had any intention of letting Weber go after they had already lost Suter, unless another team was willing to massively overpay for him. |

Honestly, if that was Poile's asking price, then that was Poile pretty much saying that they're not trading Weber. I don't believe the price was that high. And personally, I think there is a chance that Weber is traded this off season.

The way they lost in game 1 pretty much mirrors a lot of games the Flyers lost this Season. I've stated a zillion times that when the Flyers skate, and play with intensity, and play the right way, they can compete with any team in the League. When they don't, and I don't think they did in game 1, they can't. Same old, same old. Out skated, outworked. Turnovers, and penalties. Seen it a lot from this team. Why they didn't come out with playoff level intensity team wide, for that game, is something that I can't figure out. But it's been an issue with this team all Season. Need to find consistency. Not just for this Series, and this playoff season. But for this team as a whole going forward. To me, that is the next big step in growth for this team. Regardless of what player changes are made.

I think this is true, but the opposition plays a role in this too.
The Flyers look crappy against the NYRs more often then not.

Absolutely the opposition plays a role. And sometimes a team just doesn't match up well against another. But I've seen the Flyers play well, and even beat teams better then the Rangers. That fore check just as hard, and skate even better. So I don't believe that the Flyers can't match the Rangers, and can't compete and even beat them.

I hope so.
That first game was disheartening.
One of their poorer efforts. |

There's not a lot of adjustments that Berube can make, but one I'd like to see is players such as Giroux and Voracek double shifted and sent out for a few shifts with other lines. For instance when the Lecavalier line is out, pull off Hall or Rinaldo, and throw Giroux or Voracek in there for a shift. It would be a good tactic to get both of those guys some ES time away from the Rangers top D pair. |
