Morin is growing on you? - PhillySportsGuy
He is, but we'll have to see. Pulock is already a guy ready to step into the NHL and produce. Morin has yet to show more than a shutdown type of role, and we need some guys who can produce offense. I think Ghost can and will, but he needs some seasoning in the AHL still. |

Yeah.
Would you rather have Hagg and Morin or just Pulock or just Zadorov?
I know its a dumb hypothetical because they would have Hagg regardless, but I'm just curious. |

FWIW, it's still all guesswork at this point. Any one of the 4 could be a star, any one of the 4 could be a 3rd pair guy. You really won't know which one is the best of the bunch for another 5 years or so. |

True, but I also never underestimate their ability to bounce back. They have done it all season. - BiggE
That's true man. They have the ability to win it all. I just don't know if they're able to put it together yet.
It's like they play 4-5 AWESOME games and beat the leagues best teams and get so confident they can beat anyone that they stop doing all the little things that allowed them to beat those top teams. They stop winning the battles, stop driving the net, and stop playing with emotion.
It's almost like they think they can stop working for it.

It comes with experience. Guys need to learn to bring it every shift, every game. They are close, add one more good dman, and this team could be a beast next year. |

I know. I think most teams would take Pulock and Zadorov ahead of Morin at this point though.
We'll see what happens. I still think Morin should go back to Juniors for one more year. |

who thinks akeson gets another chance? i think he should, he had 3 of the measly 15 shots in game 1.
also, i like to think about mars attacks while he's out on the ice.

He should definitely be in the lineup. I don't see how playing McGinn or Rosehill or VDV is going to help the team. Akeson took a penalty. If taking penalties are going to result in benchings, I see a pretty full press box in the near future. |

Probably the difference between the contenders, & the pretenders.
Consistency, and, making the proper adjustments.

Not choosing... just googled and came up with this...
HF has Morin at a 7.5 likely hood to succeed.
HF has Zadorov at 7.5 as well
Hagg at 7.0
Ghost at 7.0
I'm getting a feeling that HF probability score is useless. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Key Adjustments for Game 2, Quick Hits - bmeltzer
Skating is a huge part of it. They can't hesitate so much on the breakout, whatever the reasons, and expect to have any chance of negating the Ranger forecheck.
That means the defensemen need to get to the puck quickly, the forwards have to get back and reduce the size of the gap to allow for quick outlet passes and then they need to press the attack.
It's not just the forwards doing a poor job of gap control, it's execution and smart play up and down the line up. I don't question the effort, but I do worry about the intensity, if that makes sense.
In other words, they're working hard, but it's not really being channeled into effective play. They're being outsmarted. |

Kinda pointless to scratch him and make what happened even worse. Damage is already done.
But whatever, we all know the Flyers aren't really great at developing players outside of the first round. Things like this hurts player development. |

Considering that the only other options are McGinn, Rosehill, VDV or dressing 7 dmen, yeah I'd give Akeson another shot. |

I will say this. It wasn't just a bad penalty. It was a result of the kid having no strength to throw a check. While the Flyers would have probably lost regardless, the penalty was a direct cause of us losing game 1.
As a rookie you don't get to cost your team a playoff game and get to say "it's no big deal". |

I agree. I do think that both Zadorov and Morin have more upside than Pulock. Pulock will never be a top pair beast shut down guy, while both Morin and Zadorov could be. |

good analogy!
He is a freaky little dude.
I don't know if I would play him, not because of the penalty, only because we need to establish a better forecheck.
They said that would be there game plan, to make the Rag's come up 200 feet, and, to pound the D men, they only did that sparingly.

Its a fairly loose approximation.
Zadorov and Pulock have a much more rounded game. They look like they'll be two-way defenseman.
The jury is still out on Morin. |

Not necessarily. Ghost, for all his skilled, is undersized and Hagg has been inconsistent, there is a reason why he fell to the 2nd round.
OTOH both Morin and Zadorov have the physical tools to be dominant top pair guys. It certainly doesn't mean they will be, but the potential is there. No matter how skilled Ghost is, I don't think there are any scouts that see him, or for that matter Hagg, developing into #1 top pair, shutdown guys. |
