Think about how undisciplined the Hawks were for the final 10 minutes in a 1 goal game in a game they really need to win.

It's almost like their coach is a crazy, angry ball grabbing maniac. |

The way they lost in game 1 pretty much mirrors a lot of games the Flyers lost this Season. I've stated a zillion times that when the Flyers skate, and play with intensity, and play the right way, they can compete with any team in the League. When they don't, and I don't think they did in game 1, they can't. Same old, same old. Out skated, outworked. Turnovers, and penalties. Seen it a lot from this team. Why they didn't come out with playoff level intensity team wide, for that game, is something that I can't figure out. But it's been an issue with this team all Season. Need to find consistency. Not just for this Series, and this playoff season. But for this team as a whole going forward. To me, that is the next big step in growth for this team. Regardless of what player changes are made. - MJL
Well, we will see. Odd that they would be beaten exactly the same way to the same team at the same venue so often.
questions, questions:
1. Will the Flyers forwards win the 1-on-1 battles when they do get the puck deep?
2. Will they be able to win it while generally being outnumbered?
3. Will our D/3rd forward pinch/join forecheck to give them a hand knowing they are slower than Rangers forwards and this could result in an odd-man rush?
4. Will our forwards be able to prevent Rangers breaking out with a ton of speed?
5. Will our D continue to backpedal as soon as a Ranger approaches our zone with speed?
6. Once the puck is in our zone, will our forwards come back to help knowing then that if they arrive too late or lose the battle there is a Rangers player they have left open?
7. If forwards instead do stay back and instead cover the passing lanes and our D win the puck will they stand stationary and have the puck arrive to them just at the same time as a pinching Rangers D-man?
8. Will Giroux be able to shake off the kind of close checking game that he has problems with? Or will he instead take a slashing penalty?
9. Will Schenn and Simmer finally show some chemistry together and actually have some puck-possession time in the offensive zone? When will I ever see one of them set up the other? |
