Kind of hate the Avs as they are my friend's favourite team but they have built a solid group. Smart trades, signings and growing from within.

Roy should have that Jack Adams locked up. Set the tone with that lunacy in the first game, but it was a smart move that they were not going to be pushed around and they were a different team.

Would you guys do a Mackinnon for Giroux straight up trade? Would the Avs?

I take one positive thing from game one, with as bad as they played it was 1-1 until the 4 minutes penalty. That penalty kicked the last nail in. If the right Flyers show up and they have to, they should win this game. G needs to play the best game of his career.

Mackinnon hasn't proven anything yet other than he looks like a promising rookie.
Giroux has turned into a PPG player over the course of a multi-year career including the playoffs just entering his prime.

no. why would they? they just won their division, won game 1 of their series. if they were in 'edmonton' mode where they needed some life they might but not now

Yes, but I would argue Mackinnon has even more upside. And you get him for a few years for cheap which frees up salary. I think next season he will be within 5-7 points of Giroux. Its something that may look a gamble now but may change a franchise around 2-3 years later if Mackinnon is Crosby good and starts putting together 110 point seasons.
