Yes, but I would argue Mackinnon has even more upside. And you get him for a few years for cheap which frees up salary. I think next season he will be within 5-7 points of Giroux. Its something that may look a gamble now but may change a franchise around 2-3 years later if Mackinnon is Crosby good and starts putting together 110 point seasons.

I don't think Mackinnon is going to lead the league in points over the next 4 years and Giroux has. Im not trading a player like that for potential. I think Mackinnon could be great, Giroux already is great.

The Flyers don't need to turn the franchise around. They have a young core that needs help on defense , which may also be coming, in the form of young players.

if he had a concussion, i would hope he's not on the ice until he feels symptom free. with the flyers, you never know.
