He's had all year to "find his game" and was completely ineffective in game one. I like Vinny, but he played poorly.
- Jsaquella

Its a shame when the Rangers roll 4 lines and Berube can't consistently match him with 4th liners. In my opinion.

That's cause too many of the media that covers hockey fans have either no real understanding of the game, or worse, they do understand the game, but they go for the cheap headline shot and for stirring the pot.

I didn't see him enough to say he played any worse than most of the other guys.

He was playing great before his injuries in the early parts of the season. When he broke his back and face, things got really bad for him the rest of the way.

The flyers need to stop trying to generate all their shots from the blueline, they are not getting to the net. They need to get the NY "D" moving east to west to create lanes to get the puck to the net. Can't score if you can't get the puck to the net.
- RobFlyers#1

Got to get the puck out of your own end to do anything. That's the biggest problem. If you can do that, and get set up in the Rangers' zone, you can get their team to running around, but without doing a better job on the breakout, offensive zone strategy is just talking at a wall.

Rangers 4th line is one of the better grinding 4th lines in the league. We have one of the worst 4th lines in the league.

Putting an offensively minded player who has never been known to play good defense and is having a terrible year on the 4th line and asking him to do something he has never done is a little absurd to me.

Absolutely right, they have tried something radical like killing off the damn penalty!
Or at worse, give up only 1 and still be one lucky bounce away from a tie game.

To pin that loss on Akeson is ridiculous.

- BiggE

Especially since they gave the kid all of 1 regular NHL game this season before throwing him into his first playoff game.

Giroux took a penalty and had 0 shots; Akeson had 4 penalty minutes and 3 shots. Lecavalier had zero shots and zero hits. Voracek, zero shots, zero hits. etc.

Lots of shoulders to place blame upon.

I got nervous because I heard Panaccio talking about how VDV was called up and there may be changes in the lineup. It could have just been him stirring the pot as usual.
- PhillySportsGuy

Would it shock me to see Akeson out? Probably not.

But Chief has been smart enough to keep VL on the the 4th-line, so maybe he'll do the smart thing here and keep Akeson in.

6%

94% chance that some fans bought into his ridiculous hype that he was going to be the next Mike Richards.

He started hot, and then struggled, pretty much throughout the year. Injuries certainly played a role, but in game one Lecavalier was awful. Akeson on the line with Couturier & Read was really the only one generating offensive zone time and getting chances. That's why they played the most minutes. Vinny wasn't alone in being ineffective, so there is that.

I'd love to see Lecavalier show up and play well, but if the guy can't generate anything in limited minutes, he doesn't deserve to play bigger minutes.

Okay.

So did Read at 27 or whatever.

The point is a 22 year old scoring 20 goals is a player that could certainly put up more. He certainly hasn't hit his ceiling and this is only his 3rd full season? Right? Give the kid a few more years

The other options are so bad. It's not like they have someone knocking on the door. Its Akeson, VDV or McGinn.

Imagine... being thrown onto the ice against a tight checking and aggressive team like the Rangers... and you're asked to generate something... and then they put out Luke Schenn, Grossman, Rinaldo, and Hall as your team mates to get stuff done.

Good luck!

If he really played that bad so be it. Just think it's a little (frank)ing absurd that we expect Vinny to produce with those guys and Schenn gets to play 2nd line minutes and with much better players and does squat and he's still the greatest thing since the fleshlight.

We should think about trading him soon. He's going to start declining at some point.

Did they bring McGinn back up after the last game for ADK?

I'd be open to juggling the lines before game 2, for sure. I'd like to see Raffl, Hall & Rinaldo on that 4th line, because they were effective and could play 8 minutes a night on a regular basis.
