I watch him. Still don't like him. I like nothing about his game really.
He's a future cheap shot artist in the making. - Flyersgod
That's cool. He has been a bit disappointing to most people at the very least. I can understand your view |

I'd rather have Richards than Schenn, but I'd rather have Schenn & Simmonds over Richards |

Right now, I would also take Richards over Schenn but going forward, I'd rather have Schenn, one has potential to keep improving while the other is on the downside of his career.
Right now I'd take Simmer over Richards straight up! |

I'm getting the feeling this year's 1st rounder is going to be dealt as part of a deal to bring back a legit LW for Giroux . The Giroux goals/wins stat while a testament to G's clutch ability is pretty telling as far as the rest of the team goes.
The question is if you keep the 1st is there someone available to to assert themselves over the slew of D prospects we now have or is there a forward worth taking that has a legit shot to eclipse a player in our top 6 which is currently very young? |

In current events, Dave Isaac tweets that Mason is on ice at practice and that Cal Heeter isn't, so at the very least it seems Mason will be able to back-up Emery, if not start |

That's the rub, Richards is still an effective player. But age is a mild concern as is salary. |

With the 17th pick our likely spot, its a crapshoot. However, at that spot in the draft, I'm much more confident that the Flyers can find an impact forward than they can an impact dman. Their track record when it comes to selecting forwards mid to late in the 1st round over the last 15 years is impressive. |

I hope they don't deal the pick, even in this poopty draft. They're good at turning out gems and their pipeline is still dire.
Plus, a late first gets you what... Steve Eminger? |

Lines are the same at practice as they were for Game 1. So: Akeson stays (as he should) |

I fully expect Schenn to score 3 goals and add 2 assist tomorrow because of today. Before it happens, I want to be on record as saying, i'll be happy that he does.

Obviously don't want it to happen, but assuming they get knocked out while being non-competitive in this series...
Do we assume Holmgren gets the axe?
He survived Eminger, Bryzgalov and JVR. Does he make it past LeCavalier? |

I will say this for Schenn... majority of his points 32/41 were scored at even strength. That's only 7 points less than Voracek and tied with Hartnell.
It's no big deal to me. I've made peace with the fact that some love the crap out of him.. and I don't and that bothers others like their love of him bothers me. - Flyersgod
I think you've created and are arguing against a straw man. I doubt most "love" Schenn any more than they "hate" Vinny.
I hope they both do well, score a poopload of goals and help the team win. Most of the debate surrounding them and who should be on what line stems from where they are in their careers, |

Yeah, it's more the contract than the play. No idea why people keep saying he's declining... he's just playing on a team that can't/doesn't need to score many goals. |

I worry slightly that he will just push himself to play.
Emery held the fort well in game 1, and isn't terrible at puck handling himself. I do have a slight concern that we will see Mason at less than a 100% and it will show with his play.
I would personally, unless things are 100% certain wait to game 3. |

I get what you're saying, but "can't" and "doesn't need to" are worlds apart.
Edit: I get the distinction now. I'm not sure it's a pro or a con for Richards' production though. |

I'm just hoping they go forward, outside of Laughton they really don't have squat |

It's a little bit of both. Their SH% is really bad, but they own possession and get really good goaltending at EV, so the system seems to be able to withstand a lack of offense. |

I still miss Laviolette
I know his system is geared toward teams built a certain way (primarily teams that can skate), but that aggressive hockey to me is always much more fun to watch than d-first.
Miss the fire. |

Mason taking shots from the defensemen at the end of practice just like a starter would in a morning skate. Gotta think he starts tomorrow. |
