I'm just saying I'm glad it was Backes and not Schwartz, Tarasenko or Steen. His broken foot (speculation) has been limiting his effectiveness in the first two games. - stljam
Glad your happy that Backes got his brains scrambled instead of someone else - like it's OK for it to happen to someone. |

Thanks. He isn't a dirty player. Bullies just make me sick. They get away with so much crap all the time. Finally someone gets sick of their dirty ways and really nails them and yet they are the ones who get in trouble. Backes had so many dirty hits his whole career. Running everyone from the start. Seabrook finally gets sick of it and goes a little overboard and will pay dearly and backes gets to keep doing his crap. I'm sure he will be back next game - tomcat24
When you watch him after the play and all the bullpoop he dishes out. Not saying I want to see the guy injured but what goes around comes around.
Am I happy about the hit and the eventual outcome of the game? No. But when you watch Backes crosschecking Toews in the back of the head and I believe was responsible for one of JT's concussions.
Saw him today trying to engage Saad when Saad was headed to the bench and DB was using his stick up high on him; big surprise. Head wasn't the point of contact but was crosschecking him behind the play and it's what this guy does. It's his thing/M.O.
Don't hope that he's hurt but certainly can't feel sorry for him. |

That filthy intend to injure stick swinging goof has got to be concussed. Don't think we'll be seeing him for awhile.
You think Seabs intended to target the head, was off his game in doing so? I don't. It was in the flow of the game and the opportunity arose. You've seen Seabs enough to know that's not his game, regardless of what trolls are hear saying.

Watching CBJ and Colorado - the just let it go play, the energy, the excitement in their play - saw it in the Hawks last year and in 2010 and 2009 - not in 2011 or 2012 - or this year. |

But he wasn't concentrating on the game - the puck was long gone - one goal lead with five minutes left - don't have to hit him like that - pull up, win the game, go home controlling the series b
But this was the last in a series of stupid plays in this game - all of which could have been avoided. |

Avs are going to be a very tough out. They are rolling right now. McKinnon having a big night. They'll get Duchesne back in the next round. Look like the Hawks of 2009. |

Looks like no comeback magic for the Aves tonight. They are front running quite nicely; the Wild are over matched. Mackinnon....like wow! |

Bad mojo to wish injury on anyone, kinda like wishing bad things on bad people. You know they will get theirs without stooping to hope it be so. BUT when they get theirs nuttin wrong with enjoying the hell out of it. Like last year's Cup winning game in Boston I will never erase this game from my DVR.
I'm a fan of the Blues heavy game. Love old school hockey but Backes has zero regard for his fellow players, none. Guaranteed there are many NHL players doing the happy dance watching The Filthy Backes dazed and noodle legged.

Maybe better...they get some blue line help and they maybe atop this division for a while. |

Bryz out - Kemper in.
It ain't pixie dust: Avs are very good. |

Agreed. Young, fast, dynamic team. Little thin on back end, but a free agent signing or two can fix that.

Not happy it happened at all. Just being realistic given that it already happened, it could have been someone more valuable to the rest of the series. |

You really can judge a person by his history. Seabrook is definitely a clean player. I hardly ever see him try to crush a guy like this. I think he, like all the hawks, are starting to get sick of Backes and finally tried to really nail him. |

It is a young mans game and hunger and energy are critical. I have said periodically through the year, as some forget...but if you want to know what made the hawks special and what they looked like in years past, watch Sharks, Avs, blues and even Stars to a lesser degree. They play top speed, no holds barred hockey. We play a chess game to manage the game....and not very well..
Some of the roster choices (not raising or debating them here) were obvious steps in a different direction. And franklly something I did not understand. But here we are. |

Probably me. I said it a few times and this was his 1st very bad hit. Sooner or later everyone gets fed up with cheap-shotting bullies and you get sick of it and go a little too far. - tomcat24
I'm surprised it wasn't Keith tying to tomahawk him. That guy's got a short fuse! |

They got some boink doink goals. Had control of the game...blues with 3 shots on goal at that point and about to kill another penalty and then.......
It is this "and then" which will define this series for all the wrong reasons! |

STL you can't be sure Seabs wasn't blocked or screened from seeing BackAss didn't have the puck. Even so he's moving quickly, it was a bam, bam play. It happens.
The player who's pissin me off with idiot penalties is that turnover machine, VerSteeg. Guy needs to be given a seat.

I'm a huge fan of hitting. I must yell hit him a thousand times a game. But it is mainly to knock someone off the puck to take it away. Or to wear down the d for later in the game. Certain teams overdo the hitting taking cheap shots and hitting to hurt. I hate the stuff after the whistle. The forearm shivers to the head. The pushing and hitting guys in the head going to the bench. Cheap stuff |

I know we are mostly debbie downers here...but they no way outplayed the Blues in both games. They beat themselves: poor passing, turnovers, giveaways, penalties. |

I don't think a player gets more crap than keith. You do get fed up with always being the target and just get revenge. Keith takes so many elbows and barely draws a penalty. Just like sedin's elbow. Keith reached his breaking point. Same with carter trying to chop keith's bare hand. |

If your sick of BackAss or any other intend to injure Blue, make em pay on the PP. StanBowPops&McD built this team to stick check and allow their players to get slaughtered without retaliating but payback by scoring on the PP.
We've seen em do it that way to the Scumbag Canucks on the way to winning Cups.
Who knows what Seabs was thinking but the guy is clean, a pros pro with two rings. I'll defer to him. |
