To answer your question.... Yes! Detroit does suck! |

Seabs was laughing OBVIOUSLY because Backes can dish it but cannot take it. Backes, Lapierre, Ott, Reaves and Jackman..... dirty players with records to prove it.
Seabrooke has never been suspended. The hit, at worst, was the equivalent of the Orpik hit. He will probably get 1 game because of the whining fan base and mooing announcers. Bickell - also no suspensions. His hit was worse but nothing less dirty than the sleu foot Tarasenko pulled earlier in the season and what Ryan Reaves pulls every night.
Blues are now the dirtiest team in hockey. The garbage and crap behind the play and after the whistle is obviously the style that fat POS Hitch is coaching. The refs are letting too much go and losing control.
What did Hitch want before the game? "Chaos" was the quote. Well, he is getting it. Someone gets hurt - it is on him.
All of you inbred Blow hards posting garbage everywhere about "the evil Sebarooke" look like two faced morons. This is your style night in and night out.
Guess what? It will not win a cup. Eventually the whistle will start blowing and you will go the way of the Canucks. - tredbrta

Lucky lucky lucky! St. Louis not as good as advertised.... Getting completely outplayed by Chicago! Backus deserved to get knocked for a loop! - MnGump
Unlucky is more like it. We were that close to getting the first round bye known as the MN Wild. Instead we face a decent team. Hopefully we can meet you guys next year, with Suter and Praise near the end of their prime and young players already 4 steps behind other guys their age, you guys won't be making playoffs for too long, and we'd hate to completely miss the free series win you guys are right now. |

It's two games we haven't won anything yet. It is sad to see all the name calling and trolling back and forth. Blues fans let's be better than them, let's let our team win for us on the ice. Sucks Backes is hurt and I'm sure Seabrook will get a nice suspension and a nice offseason full of golf. The name calling back and forth is kind of somphmoric. Let's go Blues! |

Timeout here.
Read the Hawks thread and you can see how angry about this I am and how much I'm ripping on Seabrook AND Bickell.
Seabrook did not leave his feet, c'mon... stop with the homer crap
And the principle point of contact wasn't his head - at least not when he started his hit, and Backes leaned down prior to getting hit.
Call it actually how it happened. - CaptainBlackhawk
Seabrook did not leave his feet. One foot was on the ice entire time.
What is forgotten is the hit was way late, on an unsuspecting player and the principle point of contact was the head and it did not move dramatically in a different direction.
I have emotions in this, but Even when I see one of the players on my favorite team make a bad hit or cheap play I am angry about it. Just like Lappy's hit earlier in the season, it is indefensible.
You could see Seabrook thinking here is my chance and that hit was absolute malice. With the earlier leg hit on Sobotka it had me wondering if there was some message going on about hitting the Blues. These are injury type hits.
The NHL is a bunch of clowns and will get it wrong most likely. The only way to take care of this is to hunt either Toews or Kane.
Just like the Rupp hit, it does not matter if your head is down. You cannot aim for the head. Just like you are responsible for your stick, you are responsible for your body. |

Actually he does leave his feet. How many game did Torres get for his hit on Seabrook? Seakbrook is looking at a lengthy suspension here...

My guess is still one game too. I can't imagine how Lucic doesn't get a suspension for that blatant of a cheap shot. Q gets 25k for grabbing his but Lucic only gets 5k for trying to remove a guy's set? Busch league, garage league nhl as usual. - stljam
Yeah I am shocked that Lucic got fined five grand. What is that less time than he spends on bench in a period? |

And Q gets 25k? Tells you all you need to know about the NHL...They care more about the perceived damage caused to their brand, image and revenue stream as a result of an inappropriate gesture than they do the actual potential risk to the players. So sad in so many ways but just like every other big business. Just makes me and regarding the league. |

What a classless bunch of losers the Hawks have, saying wakey wakey Backes..... FRANK THE HAWKShttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFCiYri04Oo#t=45 - Goblues86
Thanks, finally a good capture of the Keith slash on Oshie's elbow before the Backes hit. That easily warranted a penalty as well. |

This would not make any sense for the Blues. They are up 2-0 and if they win game 3 they have a stranglehold on the series. They will let the Hawks right back in the series if they go out and start trying to retaliate for the hit on Backus. If I'm Hitchcock I'm telling my players to focus on winning the game instead of settling a score. I'm thinking the Hawks have learned a lesson here that they are not a physical team and when they try to play that way they are not as effective as when they are playing a puck possession game. If the Hawks get back to playing the way they should the series can turn in a hurry especially if the Blues start worrying about getting revenge. |

Agree
How they even try to defend that hit is ridiculous
And I like Chicago!
Seabrook is one of my favorite defensemen, but that hit was brutal. Has to be a suspension, prob multiple games

Ummm... hey pal. I don't give a donkey's nuts if you're a blogger or not. You might want to head over to the Hawks thread and talk to your few Blues fans that are on this site about what they are posting.
Just sayin'.... - CaptainBlackhawk
Yeah those Hawk fans over there are super cool. If only we had a couple dozen guys to spend all their free time on the internet posting messages all day....
The hit will get a suspension mainly because the head was the principle point of contact. Also it was late as Backes had skated right by the puck. Weather he left his feet early or not, he did explode into the hit which only made it look worse.
It is so sweet to see the Blues beat the Hawks at their own game. Hitch is looking like a genius right now. The way he had the boys go out and punch the Hawks in the face in those last two regular season games, then beat them with puck possession in the playoffs. Genius. |

Did Backes re-aggravate his injury?? Well he had a foot injury, did his foot move to his head?? And I'm the homer. Go bac to your Hawks thread and whine about it. No one wants to hear you make excuses here. - Randall_Ritchey
If all fans of other teams "go back" you'll have like only three guys!!! Anyway, here are the facts; The Blues set the tone for the series by going after Toews shoulder in game one. FACT. Yes technically the hit was clean but, there was INTENT! Lets not kid ourselfs. No one does more after the whistle garbage than the Blues. FACT. I believe in the Hawk dressing room after game one the theme was if you want to run our stars, game on. That being said, I don't condone the knee on knee by Bicks. Dirty play. Out of ordinary for him. The Seabrook hit in the end will be termed dirty. Less overt than the Bicks hit in my opinion. Don't want to see any player get hurt, but "you live by the sword"... Hope there is nothing long term for Backes. Contrary to others, I don't hate the guy. Anyway, this is allot of fun. And Randall, if you want to chide a Hawks fan for "whinning" and send them on there way, fine. But you might want to show up more than YOU do. I have a couple friends in Saint lou and I know there is plenty of good Blues fans down there who would show up more here if you would give them a reason to... |

Even based fan, in 2 pools and it affects each one, I got him in one, loaded with Blues in the other, dirty hit targeting the head. More worrisome is Keith's stickwork all game long. Lack of respect for all players doing so. This series could get real ugly partially because of it alone. Seabrook should get 2 for the hit, more if it wasn't playoff time. But because the Hawks are down 2 already and the NHL disciplinary department is a joke he will likely get only 1 or a fine. |
