A Spezza for Kadri deal is bizarre. Ottawa has lost patience with Spezza because he no longer plays a 200' game. How would the Leafs benefit by adding another center who does not take care of his defensive zone responsibilities? I tend to agree with a few other posters who suggest that the deal would be a disaster for Toronto. Yet, maybe, that is all you need to know. It is such a bad outcome for the Leafs, maybe they do it.

I know Murray likes Clarkson and believe he is a much better player than his play during this past year. I could see Murray asking for a first and Clarkson which might suit the Leafs given their cap problems. Murray would not have an interest in Kadri. He is an undersized Jason Spezza who will not take care of his own end.

Kadri is quite hated here in Ottawa, a trade revolving around Spezza/Kadri is ridiculous. If your "source" was actually a source, there would be rumblings from more than just them about this potential move.

I can see Kadri being Spezza in a year, dunno why they'd make that deal. Not Spezza in his prime, but the Spezza that the leafs would be getting in return. I'm not against dealing Kadri, it just doesn't make sense to do it in that deal, I'd much rather see him be dealt for a top 4 dman who can defend. I sense a this was a hits boost kind of post by Ek.
