Yeah, Anderson, Lehner and Bishops unreal save % that season, compared to the terrible goaltending the Sens got this season had nothing to do with it. - Charliebox
Obviously other factors enter into the equation. But you cannot deny that even though Spezza has great individual results he has never had great team success. |

Without Spezza in the lineup they make the playoffs year before. With Spezza in line up they miss this year. - spatso
They also didn't have Karlsson for 30 games last year, let me guess, its his fault they missed too?
There are a host of reasons why they missed:
1. Lehner and Anderson having less than stellar seasons (from .936 and .941 respectively to .913 and .911)
2. Alfie and Gonchar leaving
3. Karlson being leaned on more as an elder statesman on the d
4. Bobby Ryan sucking
5. Erik Condra, Colin Greening and Zach Smith all not contributing offensively
6. Michalek getting worse

At 23 he still has time to fix that. Right now, he's worth more than what Turris was worth when you traded for him. I see Kadri in the Derek Stepan class of player imo, there's still upside there, but whether he can round out and not lose his offensive strength will determine where he will slot in down the line. I also do think it would take Kadri and something to get Spezza, but if I were the Leafs gm, I wouldn't make that trade. That's not me overvaluing Kadri, that's just me feeling there's more untapped potential that if we're just patient we'll be rewarded. - mykokes
Well if he learn to play a 200' game like Turris...why would the Leafs ever want to deal him.

I'm with the Ott fans on this one.... you guys are overrating Kadri and underrating Spezza
Depends on what the "more" is, in the trade. 1 for 1... you HAVE to do it. And laugh your way to the bank. - twiztedmike

Ottawa has been to the cup final, we haven't. Again, I don't want Spezza, but sometimes the obvious target for a team's failure isn't the right one. |

Better than most i have seen here ,You guys get your number 1 center,we get a vet winger to play with Zbad |

I agree. There was the one cup finals, but it's no secret that Spezza has never won anything at any level, despite many opportunities.
All I know is that a Spezza/Kessel combo would be damn deadly. If Spezza stayed healthy, they would probably form one of the best, if not the best, offensive lines in the league.
The problem would be convincing the two of them to play some defense. |

We don't need Spezza and we can't afford 7 mil + retaining lupul salary.
It doesn't help us and it doesn't work capwise. |

Markets decide value. Murray wants two skaters, one top 6.

Your absolutely right. Nobody believes the Leafs are dumb enough to do this deal. |

Then I'd do the deal straight up. Put Spezza between JVR and Kessel, Bozak on the second line heading up a shutdown unit, and letting Kadri feast on third lines like last year. |

The market is shaped by what the seller asks and the buyer is prepared to offer.
In the end it is the final price that sets the market. Do you not think the Spezza talk is just Ottawa trying to stoke the market? |

I think its the fact he's entering his final year, and Ottawa was really counting on playoff money this year. He'll be moved imo. |

He will be moved. I think Ottawa had a good deal for him (Anahiem and possibly St. Louis) at the trade deadline. But they decided to try and make a run at playoffs. I think they already know what they will get. I think they are using Toronto to pump the market. But, he most likely goes Claifornia, Arizona, Texas or Florida,,,,maybe Tennesee. |

two things I find hilarious about these comments .....
1) how much the Leaf fans over-rate Kadri
2) the fact that people think that Ottawa needs, or would want a player like him...
he is the epitome of what ails the Sens and the Leafs ..... all offense, no defense, self-centered play
thanks but no thanks - GadesnSens
yes, you are absolutley right.
BOTH players epitomize what is wrong with their teams. The difference is Kadri is younger, cheaper now, and later, and has his best years ahead of him and Spezza's are behind him.
So, why would Toronto consider that deal? |

Moving Spezza to TO for Kadri wouldn't make sense to me - we currently have a glut of high-end centres in Spezza, Turris and ZBad, switching out Spezza for another C in Kadri would only continue that problem, especially with Lazar likely coming up next year.
ZBad needs ice time, and keeping him on the third line just doesn't cut it at this stage of his development. Make Turris #1, ZBad #2, Lazar #3 and Pageau #4. Lazar will make Smith expendable (they play a similar game but Lazar has higher offensive skills and is more disciplined).
They should focus on getting a solid top 2 D-man for a Spezza/Smith package, imo. |

Yea, I'd do Lupul for Spezz straight up.
Crazy trade to have go down in-division, but good value. Ottawa gets a guy on a good contract signed long-term, Leafs add center depth.
